1. Tom, they really look great!!! What a beautiful accent to a lovely car. Congratulations! Excellent work too.
2. Hi Nick, I found several that may, or may not, meet your needs on eBay. One is a LeSabre convertible but the other is an Invicta four door. In addition, there are several '59s on CollectorCarTraderOnline. Again, none really match your need for a convertible right off, but it is a start. There are other online search engines that may give you a hit.
3. I believe Albert is right. The fuse box is usually on the driver's side, under the dash. It may have a cover. 30 amp is about right, however, if you are having trouble with a fuse blowing, you will need to trace down the problem. My son's '72 Eldorado blew the fuse to the trans-gage that controls the fuel gauge and the kick down switch on the carb. Apparently the replacement switch was faulty and sent too much through the panel burning out the 10 amp and a 15 amp fuse. That can cause a fire...so take care of that first. We don't want you losing your beautiful car!
4. That is a very good idea. Especially on the speedometer cable. I go for authenticity until I cannot find or afford it, then use my wits. Its the mother of invention or something like that One thing needs doing this spring...I must have the speedo redone. It works but the odometer is out now. I don't drive the car that much but I would like to keep the mileage at least close to real.
5. Hi Sk. I just saw a front and two rears on eBay for a 1947 Cadillac. You might try there first. An awful lot of neat stuff appears there. Search for window regulators and then try year specifics. I don't know if the Caddy ones will suffice but at least I knew what you were asking about! Good luck!
6. Oh that is right! Thanks, Bill! Say, how is the old city? I went to UNM in the 70s and got my BA in Anthropology and History there, with a secondary minor in Philosophy. We lived on Princeton Ave across from the University, and then up in the Heights before moving to Texas in 1980. I have very fond memories of Albuquerque.
7. Oh well, then I may not need it. I have no major problems with the electrical system since completely replacing the entire wiring loom. I do need to remove and clean the grounds. I have just put on the proper gauge and style of negative cable. The others, the two that connect the two heads or the radio grounds, all need to be cleaned and reattached. Do you know of any others? I will be searching for them tonight.
8. I just found (it took me a while to READ the catalog) that they offer several excellent items including a 6/12 volt battery and a master control switch. I am thinking of putting both on the '47 so that I could control the connection of the battery and add a battery that has the best cold cranking power for the car, both of which have been suggested on here for electrical difficulties. Just an FYI!
9. Hehehehe Okay! Well I have just finished checking and cleaning all my cars...and DRIVING THEM! Happy Maintenance! Been there and done that many a time! I will be thinking of you and your chore.
10. Welcome to the Forum, Cyndi! What a marvelous car you have! If you need help with the wiring, you might consider trying Rhode Island Wiring. They have a website. I ordered an entire 1947 Cadillac wiring loom from them and it was wonderful! Hand made, with all the correct color codes and proper OEM covers. Click Here for Rhode Island Wiring!
11. She is looking MARVELOUS! Beautiful color and nice job, from what I can see. ... Very nice, Bob! Congratulations!
12. I was looking for a new woven, 6 volt negative cable for the '47 Cadillac. I found it, 19" long, at Antique Battery Co., Inc. Hudson Ohio. If you are looking for authentic batteries and equipment try these folks. They were a big help to me. (330) 425-2395. Their catalog lists batteries for Packards, Lincolns including Mopar, and Mercury.

14. Great work, Steve! I do most everything across the net. I am happy to see the AACA making this available to the membership and new membership! Bravo!
15. Good for you, Oxnard. Keeping a cool head, being adult and being able to work out a solution. I have been looking into the painting my '47 and I think my son and I will do it ourselves. At least the stripping and body work. One way or another it will get done and probably for a lot of money but it is worth it. Now I only have to find a place to keep the car to protect it from the sun!
16. Hi Crestaman. Check out the Chip Charts on the Auto Color Library. I looked up the '53 Caddy for you and here is the page. AutoColorLibrary for 1953 Cadillac Hope this helps.
17. Welcome home, Judy. I am very glad that you are home and doing better. God speed in your recovery.
18. I do not know if there is an AACA group here in Colorado. Maybe Howard can answer that. Hit the enter key too soon...I am looking now. Not a big crowd person, and rarely get out, it would still be nice to know. I will see what I find out. OK found out that there is a chapter in Littleton and Fort Collins. I will see what they are about this March. I still have to go to the CLC meetings and check out the CCCA locally. So many clubs so little time.
19. First time out of the gate! Excellent sign! Good job, Steve!!
20. Das ist ein Ausgezeichtenes Auto! Absolutely fantastic! Shop is great too!
21. Very sad news, indeed, Barker. Please give Judy my best wishes for a quick recovery. I will be praying for her. I have been recently diagnosed as Diabetic to add to all the other diagnoses so I can empathize. God bless you and your family.
22. Thanks, Gearboy and JT. I have added him to my list of resources. Daytona Parts were extremely professional and helpful so I would recommend them to anyone at this point. My local chapter of the CLC also weighed in with pro-offered help which is great too. I feel like a rich man!
23. Welcome, Hurst01! And congratulations on your purchase, or as I like to think of it, your adoption. If you have not done so, you should also go to the Cadillac LaSalle Club Forum. Both of these forums are incredible sites for information. I will have to look up the information you are asking about but there are many places to have the work done. Tail lights may be found and the like can all be found on eBay, which is very good source. You should also look into buying the 1936 Cadillac Shop Manual and Serviceman Bulletins for those years. There are also Fischer Body manuals for the body work. I got most of mine on eBay. More as I find it. Please feel free to email me at lykeios56@earthlink.net.
24. Frank, my mother's family had two big Buicks of that period, a 1938 and a 1940. The 1938 sedan was the most handsome, but was, in her words, a dog on the road. It was underpowered or had something wrong with the engine that made it a liability. So they bought the 1940 sedan. It was far better, a wonderful road car, with no major problems aside from gas mileage during the war. I think the '38 suffered from being a bad apple because I have heard nothing horrible about others. And, in my humble opinion, the '38 was by far the nicer looking of the two cars. For what it is worth...just thought I'd add that to the mix.
25. Rick, Thank you for that wonderful response. The tires came on the car and I have been concerned about their relative size and handling. I will take your advice and go for the proper BF Goodrich tire. Thanks again.
