If the 59 eldorado has the black/ white trim tag, it should go for way over estimate.  Only more desirable would be black / red or black/ black.

There is a key word in the description that explains the estimate.

You can get the documentation to see if it started as a sedan.  Paint looks tired and it is the cars second auction in the last year.

SO does that mean the investors er collectors  have taken a hit !?!!  $$$ wise !!! 😬🙄

    Yes.  Somewhere along the line.

But they got to experience pebble beach 1st in class and return a great car back to its original livery.   A true “collector” not investor.

The owner (estate) selling it purchased it post current restoration.

RM sold the Andrew’s collection last night and I forgot to take any pictures. Sorry.  All marked sold but one lot.   Other than the 32 Twin Six which hammered at 950 - A steal - I thought the prices were ok.    However, most were around low estimate.

Saw some forum members not named Ed yesterday and that was nice.  Especially the Packard guy who married well.

To see the Twin Six just google “Al Jolsen Packard Dietrich”.

The Jolsen Packard sold for more before the current restoration.  1.1 Mil.

Individual custom Dietrich convertible sedans don’t get the respect they deserve, in my opinion.

  4. Love the Murphy v16 and surprised at the estimate.  About the same as a sport phaeton, which I love too.  But the Murphy is custom bodied.

if you got it at the low end an put a fresh restoration on it, seems like a likely first in class at pebble?   For around 2million?   That is less than the Duesenberg  Murphy convertible sedan estimate at Mecum.

*edit.  The estimate a few weeks ago was something around 1.1-1.5.  It is now 1.5-1.8.  So I don’t think my logic works out.

It will be interesting to see how it does against the 32v16 at the same auction.  Both one of one.  People seem to prefer the style of the 32 over. 30-31,  but I would take the Murphy all day every day.

Is this a new building?  Or an existing building with a new/different display?

Existing building that was added on to.  CCCA was the first club to “partner” with Gilmore circa 1987.  It was added onto about 15 years ago and that addition was just added on to.

below is a mid construction photo. It is all painted red now.

Many often times talked about, and done in photo shop. He is what occours when you take the circus era "upgraded" look back to factory as delivered. Less is ALWAYS more pre war.

REMOVED: Mirrors on side mounts. Canvas covers on side mounts. Painted wheels back to factory color. Plated snap rings as they were when new. All new tires and tubes. Complete under car service. Put oil in shocks and fixed leaks, they are working fine. More to come later, including a video up to 65 mph on the first test drive.

Looks good, but I don’t see the West PB topper in the NY auto show photo.  😉

  7. Matt,  I am terribly sorry that this is the direction of this project.

what about making a low ball offer on this:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/1935-Lincoln-V-12-Engine-Running-Driving-Previously-Rebuilt-Condition-/363292696580?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0

swap the engines and then part out yours to try and recoup some costs. You have a running car that you can keep or sell.

    just a thought.
