  1. Anyone wanting to practice their railroad track driving skills needs to find where this picture was taken. No chance of a train coming here. I tried it several years ago with a 4x4 Ford Expedition on the Kennedy Space Center railroad tracks. I eased it onto the tracks at a highway crossing, straddling one rail barely inside the left wheels. Got out and checked, and I had less than 1/4" clearance between the top of the rail and the bottom of the suspension wishbone. I carefully backed it up onto the road. Obviously they don't make 'em like they used to.
  2. I did, passing him 3 lanes to the right...but then couldn't get away from him. For the next 3 traffic light stops, he pulled up next to me. There was finally a break in traffic where I could pull in front of him.
  3. Saw this in Orlando yesterday. I thought for sure he was going to tip over when he turned the corner. But he didn't and pressed on through bumper-to-bumper afternoon traffic.
  4. Completely agree...and boy would I love to have one. I was transferred to the UK in 1978. Before leaving the US I was telling everyone I was going to buy one there. Found out they were considerably more expensive there, and harder to find. And that's when they were selling for $10-15k here. Life goes on, and once again I missed the boat.
  5. Movie car notwithstanding...dollar-for-dollar, isn't that what happened with the entire car market? In the late 1980s when the Tucker movie came out, you could buy a decent, matching numbers, split-window Vette or an early E-Type for $10-15k. Look at their prices now. An early E-Type coupe project just sold on BAT for $211k. Comparisons can be made with practically all other vintage car prices, although not to that extreme. So yeah, the movie mystique may have contributed, but overall, hobby prices have increased many fold.
  6. Come on Ed, let'er rip. I believe in calling a spade a spade...not a f***in' shovel.
  7. Sweet. All 3 are very nice looking cars. Which one is yours?
  8. Miss Patten Baroness Dorndorf with her Peugot outside Tom Knowles garage. May 1939. I think she could afford to support me in a way that I would like to grow accustomed to.
