  1. That's Victor Collignon taking part in the 1907 Peking to Paris race in his De Dion Bouton 10 CV two-cylinder. The writing on the radiator is 巴黎 北京 - Paris Beijing (written vertically).

  3. José Ham Gunam, a native of Chinese and Lebanese roots, was a devoted fan of motorsports from a young age, a passion that helped him develop a natural ability for automotive design and mechanics. His dedication and persistence led him to be the first and only driver from the southeast to have competed in the penultimate edition of the Carrera Panamericana in 1953, an international competition in which he participated with a vehicle designed and manufactured by himself. To this day, this original racing car can be seen in the Campechano Automobile Museum, where you can also see other cars of his authorship. One hundred percent folksy place that shares beautiful memories, photographs from yesteryear, trophies and scale models of many famous cars. https://exploracampeche.com.mx/directorio/museo-del-automovil-jose-ham-gunam/

  5. There is an Oakland Club here: https://www.oaklandowners.com/ This page gives you an idea of potential resale on a restored car. https://www.oaklandowners.com/cars-for-sale.html That engine is interesting but looks like it would be expensive to rebuild, amongst other things decking the block & heads and finding head gaskets might be an issue. https://pontiacoaklandmuseum.org/sites/default/files/storypdf/The-Oakland-V-Eight.pdf Overall that looks like a multi-year or multi-decade project. Buying an already restored car might be a better option - whether that's an Oakland or something else like a Model T, Model A or 1980 Toyota 4x4.

  12. I've seen a guy repair an old Volkswagen part (door handle?) with a low pressure oxy/acetylene torch. I think it was a Henrob/Cobra. He had a second door handle he melted down to make filler rods with so it was the same blend of pot metal. He also built up a kind of mould around the parts with a high temperature putty like Eastwood Anti Heat Compound. It worked really well. This was at a metalshaping event. I'll see if I can find photos of the process.
