  1. Copacabana, WW2. From the book The Brazilian photographs of Genevieve Naylor, 1940-1943.
  2. Here's where I found the photo. You can zoom in quite a bit with the magnifying glass (bottom right). You just need to wait a few minutes for the detail to load. The site lists the image as circa 1926. https://brasilianafotografica.bn.gov.br/brasiliana/handle/20.500.12156.1/12410 https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/80/Washington_Luís_em_carro_aberto_durante_desfile_(037SL05067).jpg

  4. Ferro V8 Family - Motor Age, November 9, 1916.
  5. Here's an overview of American V8s in 1915.
  6. The Ford V8 is closer to the 1915 Northway V8 in design (other than the Northway's split block).
  7. They may not have found a customer for the Ferro Twelve.
  8. Hi John, is this a sleeve valve car? Regarding the Eyquem plug it would be worth emailing Depanauto in France if you haven't already. https://www.depanoto-boutique.com/PBSearch.asp?ActionID=1&CCode=2&ShowSMImg=1&SearchText=bougie https://www.eyquem.com/en/products/oe-quality-range-spark-plugs/

  11. Avenida Almirante Barroso; Palace Hotel and the Jockey Club building, circa 1922.
  12. Competing cars in the Battle of Flowers - Praça da República, Rio de Janeiro - 1906
  13. Nice photo, is that a Kepler body? 3,360 kgs transported from Belizario (MG?) to Neu Wurttemburg (Panambi). https://www.kepler.com.br/the-kepler/about-kepler
  14. Some great photos here: https://hiddencityphila.org/2018/08/budd-company-an-industrial-icon-that-broke-the-mold/

  16. I found a photo of the car & driver taken on the 1st of January 1920 at the Southend Speed Trials. The photo's a bit blurry but you can read the name "Perky" on the bonnet. It looks like it had tandem seating.
  17. According to Motor Age the Beaver Bullet had 3” valves.
  18. James, thank you for checking with the museum. I found another photo that's possibly the same car & driver, labelled as Ivy Cummings with her father Sydney. I think the date for both photos is 10th April 1920. The car is possibly a Grégoire special with the nickname "Perky". https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b530364606/f1.item.r=brooklands https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b53036492b.r=brooklands?rk=321890;0
  19. The light background is due to the high contrast of the shot. In order to bring out the detail in the car body the background gets blown out. This is still a problem with digital cameras and dark bodied cars. Back then if they were using orthochromatic film this would also happen with cars painted red or yellow.
