  1. I don’t recall seeing any. I know there’s a ‘55 Special, and a ‘58, I believe it’s a Super.
  2. I managed to get all the brakes done for the 4 wheels, now I definitely need to run new hard lines. I’ve looked, but couldn’t find the forward parking brake cables, who has them? I’ll probably head back to the junkyard soon to retrieve the front bumper from the 4 door. Anyone need any Buick parts while I’m there?
  3. Unfortunately I had to make another trip to the junkyard for the other three drums. Apparently whoever owned my project car drove it into the ground. The three drums on it were gouged beyond belief. Also when I pulled the front drums, there was absolutely no brake hardware behind them. As luck would have it, the green four door yielded up the needed parts. It appears that the owner had done the 2 1/4” drum and shoe upgrade for the front hubs!!!! Oh, happy day. Also the shoes have not much wear, I believe I will use them. Not much else to report on the baby Buick as I spent much of my time with my ‘46 Chevrolet Fleetmaster coupe. It’s close to being back on the road after decades of down time. I’m having to make shift lever modifications to pass around the rear header on the 235. I did manage to drive it 20’ forwards before my lead foot bent the shift lever that was interferenced with the brake lever. Back to the drawing board. Now for some pics of yesterday.
  4. I’m guessing you bought the engine that I had hoped for, but was out bid. I’ve been told that you can machine the end of the crank to work on your transmission. I too have a manual transmission. Mine is in a 1952 Special Riviera. The engine is a boat anchor.
  5. If you are fortunate enough to have an Ace hardware store nearby, I would look there. I’m always amazed at what they have in the hardware aisle that I need for these old cars.
  6. I made another trip to the junkyard and managed to scavenge a rear brake drum and some small parts from the light green car in the earlier photo. I installed the quarter windows and one vent window. Darn the luck, one quarter window developed a crack , possibly from being in a bind in the frame. Hopefully it won’t run completely across the glass any time soon. Thankfully it is just going to be a driver, not a show car.
  7. I’m in the process of replacing the brake system on my 45R . The brake shoes I removed are the 1 3/4”, I purchased some shoes from a local parts shop, they are 2 1/4”, the books show them to fit the 40 series vehicle, I can’t seem to get them to fit. What must I do?
  8. Preferably standard shift, as the transmission in the project car is a standard. But if minor modifications could be easily done, a Dynaflow engine would be an acceptable alternative. I’m even considering a Chevrolet six if there is a mount plate for the Buick standard transmission. The six can be found everywhere and cheap. I hope to not have to go that route, but if circumstances dictate....
  9. Do you have a picture of the correct Oiler. I have a few, as do many other folks here, and would gladly see it put back to the original purpose.
  10. I’d be willing to bet there’s nothing severely out of spec, I’ve seen several frames with bent areas that didn’t have any effect on structural integrity or drivability. If you’re going for a driver, I wouldn’t worry about a new frame.
  11. Runts on both my ‘46 and ‘50 Chevrolet’s, and will install one on my ‘52 Special Riviera
  12. An update on my Baby Buick. I just finished sanding and painting the undercarriage and installed a new fuel tank. Just got new vent and quarter window replacement glass, the doors will have to wait, hopefully I can get the glass installed by the weekend. Bob’s sent new master cylinder and wheel cylinders, along with the hood release cables and glove box. Now I guess I need to start bending some brake lines, fuel line, purchase some shoes and see which drums are salvageable. Oh and I have possibly found an engine. How difficult is it to mate an automatic transmission engine to a manual transmission? I hope to give you a pleasant update soon. I would have accomplished more, but I just got my ‘50 Chevrolet Fleetline 4 door on the road, she hadn’t been on the road since 1965. Also my ‘46 Chevrolet Fleetmaster coupe is another ongoing project I’m hoping to put on the road this summer. Many irons in the fire. Now for a couple of pics .
  13. I’m interested as It would be correct for my car. Which transmission? And price? I’m in Knoxville, Tn, so it’s not much of a trip to retrieve it. I’d also consider anything else that comes off the car.
  14. How do you take the chrome pieces apart from around the quarter window. I’ve removed the screw from the rear and dragged a sharp blade around the glass and have free movement around the lower half, but can’t see how the upper comes off. Is the an upper screw hidden behind the rubber division strip? And if so, how is the easiest way to get to it. I’m afraid that if I am not careful I will destroy frame and / or rubber divider. This is on a 45R Special, but I would assume that it is the same for all body classes.
  15. Auburncoupe, I believe I will try to get what I need from a 4 dr rather than trash a good quarter panel for just the lower rear. Thanks for letting us know about the ones you have.
  16. After looking at my door and the one pictured, I’m of the belief that it is for the big bodied Buick. The body stamping is deeper and the curvature of the lines have a steeper angle on the rear. Wish I could use it. I do appreciate your efforts. Perhaps one will turn up before I attempt to repair the one I have. Thanks again.
  17. I’m assuming that you could use the pans where your feet rest from Chevrolet with some minor modifications. As long as you aren’t making a show car. I don’t believe you can use the complete pan as the body size is a little different. Could you post some pics of your car.
  18. In search of a running 248 or 263. Hopefully reasonably priced and close to Knoxville,TN.
  19. I could use a better door than the one on the car. 40 series hardtop coupe or convertible door will fit.
  20. Could you post some pics of the driver side quarter panel. I may be interested.
  21. Yes, the minty green is horrid. I’d suggest that the buyer swiftly do as I did on a ‘55 Pontiac project I started that had a similar color scheme and paint the light green areas white. The car would present well in my opinion.
