I kind of like the looks of a Pontiac Solstice but I read somewhere to replace the battery you had to remove some of the fender. That turned me off, that and the headlights could look better I think.

I'd like to see a picture of the rear end.Dose it have one tail light or two.I finally got a second one for my 35 Buick. It would look nice parked next to it in my garage but it's a long way from Florida.

I just saw a 38 roadster on Space coast Florida's craigslist for $8500.I was unable to post the ad.Said it was stored for forty years and not running.Looks cool though.I'm 6'1" so I don't know if I'd fit.

My motor has a mild can but it idles like it has a miss.I pulled the #3 plug wire from the top of the distributor and didn't hear any difference.I could see a spark between the plug wire and the cap. Could it be a bad wire not getting spark to the plug? I'll investigate further after I get it back from the paint shop. Thanks

Thanks,you too.

I tried some pipe thread paste I bought at Ace hardware and so far so good. It's called rector seal #5. The right rear still has a slow leak that I'll have to put the sealant on those fittings after I get it back from the body shop but the left front dosent leak at all.

I've found someone willing to help me through our local car club. Thanks and Merry Christmas to everyone.Greg

Pictures of both the fitting and the hole you are trying to put it into would help. Also the old plastic part if you have it. The only time you need teflon tape or other sealant is for tapered pipe threads. Are you sure the red wasn't thread locker on straight threads?
I'll try to get pictures.I think that was thread locker since I don't believe it's a tapered thread.I can try more thread locker, the removable type. Thanks

It's not a compression fitting. The man at the parts store said to use Teflon tape which I did but still have tiny soap bubbles. My daughter-in-laws uncle is an appliance repairman. I'll ask him what he might reccomend.Thanks.

This probably isn't the best place to post but it is on my son's 69 v.w. Anyway I got new brass air shock fittings today and I thought that would solve my air leak since the old ones were plastic. They came with a red sealant on the threads and I tightened it down and squirted it with soapy water and it bubbled so I removed it and used Teflon tape, still leaked,I guess tomorrow I'll try pipe thread paste.I read blue lock tite might work.Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Is there a coating or paint that's resistant to brake fluid? It's on the panel under the m/c on a v.w.Thanks.

Could probably sale it for 100K? I wonder if it has a mast and a rudder?

Adjusting your distributor via a vacuum gauge is a time-honored method. You're adjusting the timing via the greatest vacuum reading, and then backing off a bit.
You are getting the best engine performance, regardless what the factory says the timing should be.
In your case, with a built-up engine, it's the only way to go.
Thanks Ransom! The problem is how to install a vacuum gauge.I've got a mechanical advance distributor and there are no vacuum ports on my carburetors. That sucks, punn intended. At least now I don't feel bad about not setting it to factory specs. if needed.

I timed my engine without a timing light to where it would start easily and not run on after shut down with fairly good acceleration I thought. When however I time it with a timing light to where it should be,it's very difficult to start like maybe the starter can't handle the compression. It's a built up 1833? motor with a mild cam, larger heads, and dual carbs.not sure of all the specs. What dose it hurt to run the engine at where it likes to start as long as there's no overheating or pinging or backfiring? I found a retired v.w.mechanic that's willing to help me out and do a compression check and other things. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

I think Hollywood in the 70s helped get people interested with such movies as China Town,The Sting,Bonnie and Clyde and others

Hi, The brake/tail light bulbs in my Karmen Ghia fit very loose in the housing they work if I twist them just to find a good spot. It's almost like they're just a little too narow. Is there a way to tighten up the fit? I thought of adding solder around the base of the bulbs or shims on the sides? I think I have the right bulbs. I'm trying to get the brake lights to work but I think the switch are also bad.
-
My son's Ghia I'm working on has no brake lights. My question is the brake light switchs on the m/c only one for now is connected(I read on a forum only one is required) but with the key on its getting power to both sides of the switch.Rodent matter if the brakes are applied or not.The bulbs and fuses are good. The switches are a bear to get to without pulling the gas tank.I was thinking of installing a universal type switch behind the brake pedal. Dose the switch sound like it's bad and has anyone installed an after market switch with any luck? Thanks,Greg.
