Hi, The brake/tail light bulbs in my Karmen Ghia fit very loose in the housing they work if I twist them just to find a good spot. It's almost like they're just a little too narow. Is there a way to tighten up the fit? I thought of adding solder around the base of the bulbs or shims on the sides? I think I have the right bulbs. I'm trying to get the brake lights to work but I think the switch are also bad.

My son's Ghia I'm working on has no brake lights. My question is the brake light switchs on the m/c only one for now is connected(I read on a forum only one is required) but with the key on its getting power to both sides of the switch.Rodent matter if the brakes are applied or not.The bulbs and fuses are good. The switches are a bear to get to without pulling the gas tank.I was thinking of installing a universal type switch behind the brake pedal. Dose the switch sound like it's bad and has anyone installed an after market switch with any luck? Thanks,Greg.

All you have to do is ask.
If you're near southern NH, and need help with your rig...
I may be able to help with mechanical repairs.
Regards,
Tom
Thanks,but unfortunately I'm in Florida.

It seems like it's almost impossible to find anyone willing to help with old car repairs from their garage or yours, just to help out, listen to good tunes, drink beer or (or whatever)or just hang out. I think they were more plentiful in the seventies. Easier to make buds.

On TMC I'm watching an old Cary Grant movie "monkey bussiness", lots of old cars and a 51 Ford at a dealer for 750 bucks.

I bought a wheel at Hershey and as soon as I got back home I dropped it off at the powder coated and still haven't gotten it back yet! I hope by Christmas since its a present. They said hopefully this week but this week's come and gone.

I don't believe heat is the issue.I'll recheck the timing. Thanks

Thanks, but I have dual carburetors with no choke or electrical wires.

Like the title says. It's best described as a comedians rim shot after a one liner. It's not really running on.Could it be timing? Thanks

Dose the fuel pump have the glass bowl type filter? My 35 has that plus another glass bowl type before the carb.and an in line filter by the gas tank. Always run non ethanol gas.So far so good. I installed a new accelerator pump a year ago and rebuilt my fuel pump.Runs good now. Mines a 41 series sedan, what's your friends?

I wonder what the front seat is like under that cover.I think it would look better with a white top.

I know it's been said before but if I had more storage and if it were closer I might dip into my I.R.A. I don't think I'd restore it,just get it running.I wonder if there's a front seat cushion?Seems like all the cool cars are on Facebook which I'm not a member.

I've decided to keep my MG since its running really well now, but if someone really wants to trade Im listening. Happy Thanksgiving.

I worked at a helicopter repair shop/school and we had some students from Ireland in training. One day everyone in the hangar heard a loud boom.It turned out that a student hooked up a battery charger to a 12 volt battery, the problem was that it was set for 24 volts. No one got hurt luckily.

Ever feel like you're the star of a Three Stooges movie when working on an old car?

I got Nothin' to bitch about !
She is a great Tour Navigator,
an AACA Senior Master Judge,
Points out old cars along the way - and even notes incorrect items as we zip by,
and after 54 years, still helps in the garage.
When she bitches about the time and cost involved in her Oncology, chemo, meds, and Physical Therapy,
I just tell (ask) her to keep it going because it would be too hard for me to break-in a replacement.
Did she grow up in Stratford?

I'm starting to think that working on an old car is causing me to become bipolar. I'm very depressed when my efforts fail to fix a problem and super ecstatic when it works out!

What is the red spot inside the glass? Would you take $20? Maybe I can try to lower the pressure a little or hook it up to a gauge and see what it's putting out.I tried one of those Chineese made pancake type one but I couldn't get it below 3. I like the looks of yours. If so is a money order o.k? Shipping would be to Florida 32927.Thanks,Greg.
