I got Nothin' to bitch about !
She is a great Tour Navigator,
an AACA Senior Master Judge,
Points out old cars along the way - and even notes incorrect items as we zip by,
and after 54 years, still helps in the garage.
When she bitches about the time and cost involved in her Oncology, chemo, meds, and Physical Therapy,
I just tell (ask) her to keep it going because it would be too hard for me to break-in a replacement.
Did she grow up in Stratford?

I'm starting to think that working on an old car is causing me to become bipolar. I'm very depressed when my efforts fail to fix a problem and super ecstatic when it works out!

What is the red spot inside the glass? Would you take $20? Maybe I can try to lower the pressure a little or hook it up to a gauge and see what it's putting out.I tried one of those Chineese made pancake type one but I couldn't get it below 3. I like the looks of yours. If so is a money order o.k? Shipping would be to Florida 32927.Thanks,Greg.

I would say the shut off valve regulates flow not pressure. They are different. The small regulators that John referred to cost in the $40, range. Buy one , install it, set the pressure, Bam your done.
I tried one like that and hooked up a fuel pressure gauge to it and couldn't to go lower than 3.5 or so,everyone on a v.w. forum said that my kadrone carbs. shouldnt get more than 2.5. It's not running bad though without one. Maby I should just go with it or try another regulator.

Could a regular brass or steel fuel shut off valve be used to regulate fuel pressure? Seems it would be cheaper than a regular one. Just curious. Thanks

The second electric fuel pump works well but the pressure regulator I bought, not so good.I can't get it below 3p.s.i. and I heard it should run around 2. I bought a cheap one that I thought would work.

Is ethanol gas o.k.to use in a air cooled v.w.?

I pulled the sending unit on top of the tank to have a look and since the car was jacked up on one side there wasn't any fuel in the line to the pump.Duh!

I did but I will again.

I got under the car enough today to remove the electric pump and tested from a gas can and battery charger and it didn't work so I exchanged it for another one which I tested before I installed it and it works! Only question I have is on the gas hose going from the bottom of the tank to the pump I unhooked it from the old pump and no gas ran out. There is some gas in the tank, probably less than a gallon. Shouldn't it run out? I hope the new pump will have enough suction to pull the gas through it.My tank is vented. The fitting in the bottom of the tank makes a 45 degree bend and then goes down to the pump.I don't know, wish me luck.Thanks,Greg.

I know,no offense taken.I thought I'd get more viewers with my original title.Anyway that air leak is frustrating.I hope the j-b weld holds.

Thanks,I disconnected the lines going into the carburetors and the right carb.was barely dripping fuel into it and the left carb.was worse. It runs good off of a remote gas can with the manual pump.I can't diagnose the electric pump because of a malfunction in the air ride system. It spring an air leak and the car's on the ground and I'm unable to raise it up,too low for a Jack to fit.Always something!

Working on my boy's 69 Karman Ghia with an air ride suspension. One of the dash panels sprung an air leak that seems to be coming from one or two of the t fittings I replaced them with metal ones ,still leaks.I removed the panel and j-b welded the crap out of them and now I'm letting it cure for 48 hours.I hope that works. If not I think I'll just go with 1/4" brass t barbed fittings with locktite. Before the leak down I installed an electric fuel pump which he wanted under the front of the car by the gas tank.It runs but barely trickles out of the lines by the carbs.( The left carb.not much if any).It runs good off of a separate gas tank and the manual pump, but I have to get the car up off the ground to see what the problem is with the electric pump.Maby its a clogged fuel line or the pump is bad. If it were me I'd of left the stock suspension and the manual pump.Maby some blue pills would work, just kidding.Greg.

I'm my old v.w. I was thinking of injecting some evap-o-rust in the steel fuel line that runs through the tunnel then flushing it out.Do you think it would work or would carburetor cleaner be better? Thanks

Reminds me of the accident call that I took while on patrol one cold night that was a deer hit that really messed up the Corvette that the young lady was driving. after making sure that she and her passenger were ok (and sober) I asked for her drivers license and registration, while it was cold and dark outside I went back to the patrol car to run the information and start the report. I was glad that I was in the vehicle when I read her name to enter it in the computer as I busted out laughing (would not have been good in front of her) Her name was Bambi Hunter and dispatch informed that this was her third animal (deer) incident recorded in the previous 90 days. Some times you just can not make this stuff u

I installed an electric fuel pump on my son's 69 Ghia. I know that the fuel pressure should be @ 2 lbs. Anyway should the pump stay running after the carb. bowls fill up? Thanks,Greg.

I'm putting an electric fuel pump in my son's 69 Ghia because he wanted to go with an electric one.The pump has a filter on it.I wonder if I still need the one that goes on the tank fitting. It's missing.Thanks,Greg.
Battery EXPLODED last night... It went like a shotgun blast. First Time For Everything...

I worked at a helicopter repair shop/school and we had some students from Ireland in training. One day everyone in the hangar heard a loud boom.It turned out that a student hooked up a battery charger to a 12 volt battery, the problem was that it was set for 24 volts. No one got hurt luckily.
