  1. Wouldn’t it be great if they were worth that much. I often wonder why these old vintage cars aren’t worth much. I think they have so much more style and character than later model cars. It’s kinda great they are cheap to buy so we can afford to enjoy them.
  2. Got all my plating back. Was supposed to be all nickel plated but they did it all in chrome which was a little disappointing. Did a great job though.
  3. Guards ready to bolt on once the rest is painted
  4. Top black all painted but just need to wet rub it and polish it.
  5. Thought I’d better update the progress on the old girl. Finished bringing it all back to bare metal today and have to say I have been very surprised to of found absolutely no bad rust or damage to any of the body or doors. The guards had a bit of damage but nothing serious. The only rust was a bit of surface rust around the back seat area but it all came straight off. Ive got the body all under coated and will be doing the doors tomorrow. All my guards and side skirts are finished in black. I’ll post some pics. jj
  6. Looks like it’s coming together beautifully. Won’t be long and it will be ready to go in.
  7. I’ve just sent my reflectors away to be re silver plated for the 27 I hope they come back looking as good as yours.
  8. I just read what your parents said. I think what your doing is awesome and it is definitely not worse than drugs. Drugs destroy lives, you are not. My daily drive is 18 years old and goes perfectly. If a car or truck has been looked after they go for ever, shit!! Look at our Dodges they just keep going. Good on you Matt we can only wish our kids had your enthusiasm. My 4 year old grandson loves playing in my shed and just tinkering with spanners on the old dodge. I encourage him to do what ever he wants to in there. He pulled a bolt out of the rear brake shoe the other day to my surprise. Hahahah.
  9. Yes the same mob I was thinking of antiquetyres address sorry Richard. Yes they’re in Oakleigh. I’m glad to hear your happy with them as well. I did about 220km today in the dodge running my daughter and her husband around for their first wedding anniversary. Lunch & movies ect. She went perfectly and ran just above 180 all day.
  10. Can’t believe you didn’t throw the block over your shoulder to answer the phone. Hahahah That will be no problem to spray that for you , I don’t want to be paid for it. I’m using the guys at modern platting in West Heidelberg. They were recommended by a couple of other platting places for our sort of stuff. They are good guys they have stripped all the old nickel and have let me prep it all to save some money. It should be all ready next week with a bit of luck.
  11. I used a 2pak that I mixed up out of some paint I had. There is enough left that you can have. I’ve painted my other engine. I’m going down your way to pick up my nickel platting next week so I can drop it off. If you need someone to paint it drop it off here and I’ll put a coat on it for you.
  12. I’m not on Facebook Ron. My wife says Facebook and me just wouldn’t get along.
  13. I use an Izusu NPR 300 4 cylinder Deisel. I put one on the back and the other on a trailer. It’s not fast but will do it all day.Old F trucks are money pits I think. Well that was my experience with one. It had a 351 in it. Stick with a Deisel if your towing. It cost me $5k and I built the back for it.
  14. Looking fantastic. The sign came up really well. I just received today in the mail a magazine add for the 26 and 29 victory. The 26 was $895 and the victory was $1095. The colour combo looks great with the white walls.
  15. Could be a worn bearing holding it in under load.
  16. They are all polished stainless steel. Handles are 4mm and cost about $12 each to have laser cut and we’ll over an hour to press, shape and polish but if anyone wants some I’ll do them for $80 for 4.
  17. Some pics of the door handles. I had 20 of them laser cut aswell.
  18. I’ve had to make some door lock levers because out of both my cars I only had 2 left. The diacast has just broken apart. I had the parts laser cut and have welded the 2 parts together. I need 6 but had 20 laser cut because it’s kinda more economical to do it that way. So if anyone needs some I can weld them up for you if you need them. They are not identical but very close. They cost me about $13 each to have laser cut and over an hour to make 3 believe it or not. Very fiddling little things. So I can do a set of 3 for $90. I also had some interior pull handles cut to stop people pulling on the door handle lever. Some may not like these but I’ve tried to just copy the bonnet handle design and have made them a bit longer. The door shuts so much nicer with these on. I’ll put some pics up. The front lower lever is the original just to compare them.
  19. I think it’s just the photo. If you look at the second photo of Franks it looks long.
  20. Yer it’s got the little bleeder hole with a lose rivet in it. The thermostat housing was green but got a bit chipped up when I removed it. I painted it with 2pak so didn’t feel like mixing up a tiny little bit to touch it up on Sunday when I fitted it. So the satin black had to do. Lol. If I’m painting anything else that colour I’ll probably touch it up as I agree with you it did look better green.
  21. Yes that’s spot on David, that’s where it goes. I used a Tridon TT1-180.. 54mm. You could use any up to 56mm maximum.
  22. Finally got around to doing the thermostat today and found it didn’t have one as I thought. I put a 180 in it and it now sits around the 190 mark. The car runs a lot better at the higher temp. Although I did put new plugs , distributor cap and rotor button in aswell. I’ll see how it goes through the summer I might go back to a 160 as Ron & J Franklin suggested. It has a lot better low down power now when accelerating. Got to 45 today with ease where before it struggled.
  23. If your having trouble getting the globes I have 2 spare you can have as I’ve change mine to 12v. They are not ribbed like yours but have the dull and duller filament in them. Lol
