  1. There's a Studebaker Rockne over on the "Not Mine" forum. It's named for Notre Dame's football coach. In the same period, there was the Marmon Roosevelt, which had Teddy's picture on the front. Were there any other similarly named cars? Obviously Lincoln was named for the president (wasn't it?) and you could kind of count Rickenbacker, since even though he was involved, the only reason it was named that was his celebrity.
  2. The shocking thing to me is how few today are Vets. Less than half a percent of the population is what I've been told. No damn wonder we get mixed up in things we shouldn't. My time with Sam did not involve any real sacrifice and has been a benefit to me everyday since.
  3. He put $23,000 as a price at the top of the ad. You are quite correct that Plymouth business coupes only get "so good". I wonder which price is what they are currently thinking.
  4. 6. I wonder how many models in this period were named for people? Obviously there was the Marmon Roosevelt. Any others? (not counting company founders like Dodge or Buick) Also marques: Lincoln and Rickenbacker.
  7. Interesting car...I did not know they drove on the left there at one time. (must reply through the website) https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1935-ford-cabriolet-argentina-rhd-car.1278735/ Rare right hand drive Argentina car. California title. Solid car no motor, rolls steers great, too functional. Have a complete running 36 chassis from nice car can include for extra 3500 only with purchase of car not selling separate. Have some parts not shown. New ornament, rare dash waterfall, rumble seat spring. Trades possible but cash preferred.

  9. That really looks nice. The Packard Club was going to have their national meet about 20 miles up the road from me when COVID hit and it was cancelled. Probably saved me thousands.
  10. Interesting that it has aluminum body panels. I would expect they were fabricated by an outside vendor...I wonder who it was.

  13. Oh yes! Way back in June. To quote Paul Newman in a movie I don't remember the name of "I've got a good memory, but it's short".
  14. Optimistically priced given how much it needs but I hope it can find a new home. https://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/cto/d/dallesport-1927-studebaker-president/7554449669.html Purchased it about 6 years ago with the intent to finish it and enjoy it. Upon further inspection discovered that the wood work had been a hack job by the previous owner, and wound up having to have most of it re done. I have not driven or worked on this project in several years and as such it is sitting ignored and unloved. The car is about 95% complete. Even has some original upholstery in to use as templates. 16. Right O Wayne! This one at least had a very nicely done body which would be correct for it's early 30's chassis. The vast majority of speedsters you see were built some time after Rootleib started (mid-70s) and are in a pre-WWI style on a post WWI chassis with no speed equipment at all. That's not how it was typically done in period. As we used to say "All show and no go".
  17. Did they begin the restoration by having the hubcaps rechromed? https://goldcountry.craigslist.org/cto/d/rescue-1941-caddy/7554203594.html Parked running, non op-ed, new tires, brakes, mastercyinder, rechromed hubcaps, pretty good shape, some rust. A complete car! email: 648f50e6b62d3624bfebfc100dc8814e@sale.craigslist.org

  19. I'm reminder of the saying "A car like this doesn't mean you have money...just means you HAD money".
  20. There needs to be action by the local government to protect historic resources. My town has three historic districts where you cannot alter the outside of the building without review by the local government. I think it's a good think but not all property owners agree.
  21. Here's the Ford plant at Point Richmond CA (near San Francisco) Now the Rosie the Riveter National Museum. There is also a lot of commercial space. It was restored about 2003. Happy to say I helped them get correct glass for the many many windows.
