Dual spare fenders, wire wheels, luggage trunk. following is a link to mikes Ad on facebook. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/650839866274381/?ref=browse_tab&referral_code=undefined

  4. i have a standard six late 27, but i could use the floorboard aluminum pedal surrounds and starter pedal surround, also the headlamp bar brackets and also a top hood half i believe theirs a good chance they are the same. wish i was closer, great pics by the way. also that side spare mount looks interesting.

  7. on the hunt for two left and right headlamp bar to fender mounting brackets, started to restore headlamp bar assembly pleasantly surprised to find the brackets are clamp on expected them to be welded, however they are very thin and rotted, could spend that time to restore elsewhere anybody have two in their spares looking for a good home. from different pics I've seen possible multiple years are the same 25,26,27,28 ? consider complete assembly also. thanks!

  10. think im going to lead repair the crack in place if the chromer can work with that
  11. You sir are a wealth of knowledge! thanks for the accurate account of history
  12. ahh! didnt even notice the link.. to busy looking at that sign!
  13. that is sweet any info-history on the building? that sign man.... worth a few pesos
  14. Very interesting i appreciate the info, i'm a big history nut. I think i recall reading he shot himself twice in the chest in his study, man that had to hurt ,i imagine he chose that method to spare his family at the viewing. Your cemetery stroll sounds awesome my daughter graduates from Mount Ida College in Newton Mass in 3 months she will be a licensed funeral director , she has been working in the industry for almost four years now, so you cant go five minutes around here without some type of funeral related conversation! I do have a few rules around the dinner table though!
  15. no problem, only thing i can think of is they might of been talking about it being difficult to sand? some can, also used standox epoxy for years that sands real nice but 2+ plus times the cost of SPI and no red oxide color, also maybe they were talkin bout self-etch primer ...who knows good luck with yours
  16. Hmm.. that i didn't know, March seems not to be a very good month for Studebaker
  17. yeah that's ridiculous not your statement but theirs unless they know something i don't , i'm not a ppg guy we tried it at the shop about 15 years ago gave it an honest try about 6 months i think changed our whole system over to it, biggest thing i didnt like was the base and clears at the time. anyways back on topic , we use dupont chroma-premeir for our basecoat and single stage colors , but all undercoats primers, cleaners etc., and clearcoat we use SPI out of georgia, we made that move about 6-7 years ago and absolutely love the clears and primers and cleaning prep products. this epoxy like some other has a 6-7 day window for application of any fillers, primers, base etc. directly over primer without sanding, we usually always sand it first, without sanding if desired. it has 6-month water retention properties, in other words out side 24-7 in the rain it would take that long for water to penetrate primer and effect bare metal. sands tough dry on fine grits, sands nice wet. i sanded that final epoxy with 320 3-M wet i could base over that or hit it with high build urethane primer. on that i will go directly to base color, epoxy is the most stable undercoat many guys including myself will use it all the way to finish its virtually zero shrinkage over time unlike urethanes and other primers. only drawback on the epoxy in my shop is we are in the northeast and the surface temp of metal when using their epoxy has to stay min 65 degrees for minimum 24 hrs. ... can be tough some times when its 20 degrees for days in a row, i just plan accordingly or use urethane when temps are bad. SPI has a good website check it out most products geared towards restoration, some for production. I made the move when i tried their clear absolutely outstanding, especially buffability, then i needed a good match for 60's red oxide primer color tried the epoxy line been hooked since.
  18. On this day March 18, 1933 Studebaker heavily in debt, went into receivership. President Albert Erskine resigned and later committed suicide.
  19. no problem dave my pleasure, after disassembling mine i noticed i have a hair line crack on each bezel that i will need to repair before chrome, so we both have some work to do. however i'll be damned if i can figure out how to separate the two piece bezel with out ruining it somehow the factory put these two pieces together but if you notice in attached pics the bezels are tapered so pulling on them i would imagine only gets tighter and they are tight already!... hmmm.. we will see, need to spend some time on it when i get a chance. have a beer it's saint patricks day!
  20. another good reason to drink a lot of beer today
  21. here u go commander looks like the screw in the back is your retainer screw, then u have a spring loaded dual purpose retainer bracket which holds the lamp bucket to the lenz then when tightened by retainer screw pulls bezel, lenz and bucket tight against the housing. certainly something that can be made with ordinary hand tools..... just time consuming ( as usual). good luck
  22. 3 coats of epoxy primer, hour or so each between coats, done ready for final block, going to get the other two of the car this week along with the lock rings
