  1. To answer Bernie's questions : 1. No, never enough 2.If the price was right 3. A must 4. Yes. And today so going to look- doesn't cost anything Pat -can you give some specifics other than those mentioned above . Need some "negotiating " points if it looks decent otherwise . Also going to look at the blue 63 that Fast Lane Cars has in St Charles at $22,500 just so I will have a comparison on quality points Thanks Ken
  2. Good pickup Ed - missed that . Anything obvious in the engine compartment that does look right? Never have ridden in a Dynaflow tranny . How do you like yours? Thanks Ken
  3. https://www.schmitt.com/inventory/1963-buick-riviera-2-door-sports-coupe Just listed yesterday . What do you think? Wire hubcaps incorrrect ? Breather supposed to be "crinkle"? New upholstery looks a little weird in places??? Happen to be close by on vacation - may take a peak at it on the way but they are very proud if it in price KReed ROA 14549

My passenger side vent cable in my non - AC 66 Riviera GS. is broken in two different places ( plastic mounting to firewall and plastic piece near pull). Trying to Gerry -rig it with JB weld but not confident that it will hold . If anyone has a good one laying around , I' m interested . Thanks KReed ROA 14549
  6. Is there such a thing as "too many Riviera's " ? LOL
  7. Thanks Tom and everyone for the comments - making sense now . I am amazed this would hookup to a nailhead. Always learn something on this forum ! KReed
  8. JZ - The plug is a single . Thanks for everyone's help. Will do a little more research and let you know . This particular car was not a GS unlike the 66 GS parts car picked up in Missouri later in the year which had the correct BS transmission and MW 425 single quad. This non GS car had been raced hard I think thus the incorrect transmission and MT engine . If anyone needs this transmission, it's available for free local pickup.
  9. Several months ago bought a 1966 Riviera parts car and just getting around to taking apart . The engine is a correct MW code but the transmission tag say " KJ 65 1952 " . I am sure this car was raced at some time but can't figure out what this tranny is - it is aluminum and looks like a TH 400. The aqua color is long gone on the tag but these numbers are punched at the bottom. The only thing I can find is from a jeep ?.... that has a KJ code . Any help would be appreciated . Thanks KReed ROA 14549
  10. Undoubtedly one on the prettiest Riviera's on the planet ! Can't wait to see it in person someday . Great work Jason ! Your build series is such a valuable contribution to all Riviera owners . KReed 14549
  11. Just got one of the Danbury 64's a coup,e of weeks ago and was very pleased . Every bit as good as the Highway 61 's I have . You won't go wrong with this car. KReed ROA 14549
  12. Finally got the 72 home . Can you guess why I like the rear ends on these cars ? KReed ROA 14945
  13. Does it ever end ?... http://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-Buick-Riviera-2-door-/192174876997?hash=item2cbe83e945:g:ofwAAOSwrhBZB7ZL&vxp=mtr
  14. Thanks you for the nice response . KR
  15. Beautiful job in every respect. Just curious- did you pull your engine to paint it ? Or just take as much off as possible and tape off stuff. From your initial post , got the impression you did NOT pull it . Are your exhaust headers painted or powder coated ? Thanks KReed ROA 14549
  16. That is just downright nasty . Who would drive that POS? Wouldn't be caught dead in it. Maybe Leno would do a segment.
  17. I really don't think it's a big deal to paint these cars in the color you like provided it was available in that year . Haven't checked to see how many white GS were done that year but done right could be a really beautiful car ( or non- color as someone told me once) . Looking back I don't think I have seen too many white 65 GS over the years .I am going through this decsion making process now with the 65 GS that I am restoring . It was originally verde green - not my favorite for that year so looking at other options but still havent made a decision . IMO the bamboo cream is a pretty color and the combo black cloth/ vinyl look good and is correct in that car . Impossible to tell by pics but suspect the car is a strong 3 , maybe 2-. Agree with Winston , probably reasonable buy in the $50-60 K range depending on a close inspection , particularly undercarriage , rockers and area below the deck lid. KReed ROA 14549
  18. Car was originally a white car. ( CC code) . Numbers appear to match othwise and it is LX apparently . Asking price is 66K ( but said he had a "little wiggle room " . KReed ROA 14549
  19. I really like the chop and shaved aspects of this car and the way it looks going down the road . The paint job, while very expensive and well done , is definitely a downer as is the rather gaudy color combination on the interior , particularly that head liner . Carpet is just plain ugly with all the "glitter" . I am neutral on the wheels - bet they were at least a grand apiece . Hearing that they took 3000 hours at ??... $80/ hr makes me feel a lot better about the 72 I just finished ! All in the eye of the beholder . KReed ROA 14549
  20. Thanks for the note Tom . I think you are exactly right . The numbers on the carbs are 3646 and 3645 . Am I to understand that the 64 dual quad set up did not have a kick down switch . When I pulled these off the 66 hot rod the kicdown switch was attached but I didn't really pay any attention to it as the carbs were pretty nasty - just dusted them off and sent them to Sparky. After he looked them over , he sent me a note saying that they were a "matched pair" from a 65 . A couple of references I saw state the the 3645 is a 64 OR a 65 but the 3646 is a 64 rear carb . Haven't received them yet from him but will check it out further when I get them and let you know. Thanks again for your expertise . KReed ROA 14549
  21. The original switch pitch was on the original carb set up and there was an extra one on the rear floorboard among the mice droppings and old beer cans .
  22. Thanks everyone - already sealed the ends . Jason, you are right that the rubber wants to come out on the bends on the trunk so will do it judiciously . Also noted the "joint" you mentioned on the right side nearest the bumper . KReed ROA 14549
  23. Replacing the rubber trunk seal on one of my cars - getting two trains of thought on whether to use an adhesive or not . Would love to hear thoughts on the use or no use of the 3M adhesive ( or others ) on any part of the car seal i.e. trunk, roof rails , doors, etc. Thansks. KReed ROA 14549
  24. For anyone needing an original carb rebuild ,wanted to give Sparky's Carb Sevice in Milwaukee a little shout out. These dual carbs came off a 66 Riviera which had been a hot rod and then left in a field in northern Iowa for 29 years when I drug it out of the weeds last Fall. The " before " pictures are actually after I spent a few hours pulling out mice nest and cobwebs ! Apparently they originally came off a 65 Rivi GS according to numbers on the carbs . Putting them on my 66 MW code GS. Sent them to Sparky and he worked some miracles even on the kick down unit. Not what I call inexpensive but you get what you pay for in quality from him . I highly recommend him .
  25. Jason - your car is in the ultimate garbage which it so well deserves ! Looking at heated floors but at $6 SF probably going to be out of my budget . Considering epoxy vs polished concrete right now . Polished concrete about twice as high so lots to consider . Appreciate everyone's input so far . Always great to hear from everyone .
