  1. I have used a chrome polish and the finest steel wool available, 5 "ought" 00000, if memory serves correctly. It does leave minute scratches that could probably be buffed. I did not try the buffing, however. frank

  3. My experience also is to drive them. Had to store my '29 Plymouth for 6 months a year, no big deal. Would drain remaining gas from Kingston vacuum tank reservoir, but not carburetor. The following spring add about a pint of fresh gas to the Kingston, open the stopcock, turn on key, max choke and would start immediately. Then had to store for 18 months straight, what a nightmare! Electrical, carb, clutch. Needed a tow to get the poor thing home. I hope I never get in that position again. frank
  4. Narve, Your firewall looks very much like my 1929 Plymouth U. The two pair of holes I believe you are describing hold the accelerator/throttle cross shaft. The port side (nautical) bracket can just be seen above the horn. Sorry for the poor picture. frank

  6. Painting rims after mounting is what I did several years ago. Learned the hard way that when you need to repair a flat, put the spreader on the inside edge of rim and then touched-up nicks won't show. I know this is obvious, but I'm a slow learner. Moving blanket is great idea and beats over-sized beach towels. Thanks, frank

  9. On my 29 Plymouth, I replaced copper with steel and painted them a copper metallic before installation. I did this when the 4 wheel and master cylinders were sleeved. frank
  10. I removed the brake drum first. Remember having to rotate and tug quite a bit. Your pictures bring back memories. frank
  11. I don't know about good idea, but my 29 Ply would not fire after sitting for only 1.5 years. I carefully cleaned points in place with 400 sandpaper and that did the trick. Is your spark strong enough? Could valves be stuck open? Mine didn't run worth a darn until the carburetor (updraft) was completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. Good luck. frank
  12. On my 29U Plymouth, I recall only 2 pieces on both front and rear, the hub and brake drum. Also, be prepared to replace all hub bolts and nuts.
  13. Had the good fortunate (I'm still alive) to attend our son's wedding last weekend and it was a wonderful event. I can recall these feelings when I was married and again when he and our daughter were born. It is good to be reminded of these from time to time. For what it is worth, it is all about respect from you and your wife. Other opinions don't matter. This is a situation, like many others, in which you do not agree, What is rational or irrational for your situation? Who knows, but you and your wife do. Lord knows sometimes I think the only reason I'm married is for self-imposed punishment, but not true. Your car is a hunk of metal, plastic and fiber like mine. Would I like to see either turned into something it wasn't, no, but at some point in time, my choice will no longer matter. How many "museum cars" have been for sale? What happens to them??   14. Hi David Fyi This looks a lot like the one on my Plymouth 29U. The April 1, 1934 Ply Master Parts List gives a P/N of 11-B-0720 for a Windshield regulator assembly for 28Q and 29U. It would fit a Business/rumble seat Coupe and 2/4 door sedan. Thanks for posting. I don't recall seeing one for sale before. If you have the handle for sale, I would be interested. frank
  15. Don't know fixture name, my Plymouth does not have them. From your picture, it appears there should be a vertical wood frame in that area which would provide a solid mounting surface. This is how the dome light is mounted in the '29U 4 door sedan. There was a specific piece attached to the lattice roof framing where the lamp fixture is secured. I'll wager there is an Olds man who can provide a picture. frank
  16. On my Plymouth 4 door, the 3 hinges were soundly secured and I removed the pins as jpage said. Just like removing/replacing a door in your house. This make hinge removal much easier without the weight. I used nothing special in door for insulation. Good luck, frank
  17. I have a 4 door sedan I'm attempting to restore and need some help. Looking for a picture of an original or faithfully restored interior where the B pillar and the bottom of the front seat meet. Also looking for a picture of the original Choke knob with the printing on it, whatever it said. Anyone happen to know what type of material and color was on the kick panels? Was this different than the doors? What was material and color that was on the firewall? Thanks for your help, frank

  19. My 29U has the "rod" and I believe are attached with original rivets to fenders. Please see the "34 Parts List. It looks as if these were a fairly standard part for various models through the years. OR the later models FIT the earlier ones. frank
  20. I really appreciate you looking in your boxes and checking with other members in the future. These are one to a car and know they get hard to find after all the years - but can't give up! 2 years ago I found 3 pot metal window cranks for what I believe are for 28Q & 29U (and other Chryslers & mfgs I'm guessing) - I couldn't believe it. Young man was in last row of flea market and almost didn't go down it because I was pooped - I'm taking my Geritol after that!. I have the 30U handles, but wanted the 28-29; now need to polish and get nickle plated. Re: small handle, these I believe have. Also have 3 different sizes, in pieces. Curiously, the April 01, 1934 Master Parts List has 2 P/N listed for Q,U; Hayes (the body I have) and another for 30-U handle. Thanks again for looking and keeping me in mind. frank
  21. Of course I can't vouch for authenticity of any of these items. They were just in the car. The jack looks like it was used a few times during the years. Interesting the jack and its handle don't have the rust the crank and wrenches had. I don't know where they were located in the car or what year the top/roof had completely disintegrated.

  24. Hi folks, Here's a list of original parts I'm trying to find for my 29U 4 door sedan. Choke knob and cable Windshield crank handle Choke cable clamp on the carb, it is about 1 and 3/8" long Klaxon 12C horn mounting bracket, on rear water inlet Clip for hand throttle spring Any leads for locating these parts is greatly appreciated.   25. Here are additional tools that were in my car when purchased. There are no markings on the jack. It is also pretty flimsy as the two part shell protecting the gearing is one piece of metal folded over another to hold it together on the edges. These two pieces are riveted to the base.
