  17. i have EZ Pass here, both my 1929 & 1930 plates are registered no issues. have to pay a toll to cross the water (tunnels) around here, plenty of water here on the coast Never had an issue forgot my transponder several times on way to outing or just a trip to get lunch. get charged the normal tunnel rate based on peak/non-peak hours.
  18. bought data tags for my 1929 from him. only way i got a hold of him was wait, and mail in the stuff as noted & requested. then wait. superb product, but busy busy busy.
  19. yeah our company decided to make the switch over to Solidworks about 3 years ago, spent 2 years doing training and such to learn the differences and how to do the things we need. is that on Orange Peel (Rexnord) Guard ?! designed many a structural baseplates in my day
  20. waterjet would be best for that part, laser could be done as well. do this stuff all day everyday, local shop here loves to do small onesie twosie jobs, done plenty of parts for my 1929 and other side jobs. have it waterjet then countersink the 2 holes by hand or on a press, simple enough. cheaper when you can get someone to do the CAD work, i do all my cad work, and give the shop a ready to go dxf file. all i pay for is material and time. they also do gaskets and such done a lot for work as well as personal. turnaround time is typically 1-3 days. I'm an Autodesk guy have been for almost 30 years... do both 2d and 3d love doing stuff like this, simple and easy typically design 3d casting models for volute pumps and impellers !!
  21. did a few more test drives and same results... driving around 5-10 minutes, no faster than 25 mph, Cloudy evening, temps around 85F 60% humidity. coolant level was just over the core. car fired right up, let it idle for about 10 minutes. car ran fine, accelerated smoothly. Saw some bubbles on acceleration and when i came to a stop, pulled in driveway and cut it off, no puking but had some bubbles. ran temps. top of radiator was around 190-195 bottom around 160-65. cylinders walls were around 200-210. fired it back up no issues, and pulled it into garage for the night. double checked timing, it is around 15 deg ...verified with timing light, but set by ear and engine feel & sound plugs gapped to .040" point gap set to .018" car fired right up, idles great, no sputtering or stuttering exhaust is a constant synchronize put put put if i retard or advance a little I get a slight miss at idle not consistent but random every 30+ seconds or so put put put put poof put put put put put put
  22. i built new cables for my 1929 Chevrolet, bought the cloth covered cable 0 from Rhode Island Wiring, then ordered the Quick Fusion connectors that have the solder slugs in them. Already have plenty of heat shrink on hand, 3:1 with the adhesive for a water tight seal. was very happy with how mine came out !! Quick Fusion Connectors preloaded with Solder (Can Buy Extra Slugs) connectors soldered on (used my vise and a torch) measure cables to expose proper depth, heat up terminal till solder melts, slide in cable end, let cool close up before applying heat to heat shrink cables all done close up of battery terminal end
  23. here is the setup i have, standard mirror with 8" arm on driver side, then the same mirror on the 10" arm on passenger side. very happy with this, and can easily see both of them from neutral driving position, just like my daily driver. been raining all afternoon so no chance to take it out and do a real world test, but will do soon enough. nice thing is they come off in a few seconds, are inexpensive, and work !!
  24. after tinkering around, figured out that the 10" was near perfect length. the 14" was way too long, and the 12" as well. went back and froth and messed around, but very happy with the 10" arm. you could use the 12" or 14" and mount them on the door panel and position them in typical side view mirror on the bottom corner of window
  25. played around to see IF i could use the same mirror on the passenger side, but realized the arm was too short. in order for me see out the mirror i have to lean back and over to see the mirror. figure the arm needs to be a few inches longer. looking around realized that the arms used on the mirror are the same arms they use on the flexible cell phone mounts. so went online and bought a few options of various lengths to see what works best for passenger side. The arm on the mirror is 8" overall from base to the ball. the ones i ordered ended up being 10", 12", and 14" so great assortment.
