  1. My Chrysler 75 does not have red engine head, but based on holes and marks on the firewall, it is clear it had the part installed there in the past, that’s the reason I bought the damper.
  2. Should the firewall unit be installed directly to the metal or should I use some rubber washings or gasket?

  4. Hello Folks, Sometime ago I was able to buy a part was missing under the hood of my 1929 Chrysler model 75. It is a sort of "engine vibration absorber". It is an steel arm attached to a bumper at the firewall, this arm connects to a regular bolt in the engine head. I have now decided to install it, but I would like to understand how it works, why Chrysler developed such system, if there is any special actions I should take to install the part, and if it is really useful. Any ideas? In my perception the level of vibration of the engine seems to be normal. After I installed thick rubber engine mounts, it became better. When I bought car, the engine mounts were missing. The picture below shows the setting in a car I found on the internet. I rounded it in red, it is under the brake fluid canister. Thanks, JRA
  5. By the way, I used dark brown leather in seats of my 1929 Chrysler 75 roadster and dark brown leatherette in my 1928 Chevrolet touring seats. For these cars, I got manufacturers references to support my choices. Marmon data is unfortunately more scarce.
  6. Hello, I was doing some research about Upholstery materials for 1920s open cars (roadster, touring, phaeton). In general I see leather or leatherette. Regarding the Upholstery color, in general I see recent pictures of restored cars showing brown (Light or Dark) as a frequent color. Were these the options used at that time? Could Black leather a period correct material? I am restoring my 1929 Marmon touring speedster, so I would like to make the correct choice. The car has black fenders and black canvas top. Would be black the right color for the seats? thanks JRA

  15. I am restoring the Pemberthy SV33 ball and ball carburetor for my 1926 Studebaker Big Six, EP, and some parts are in very poor condition, pictures attached. Any suggestion how to find or reproduce such parts? Any SV33 carburetor available for sale? Thanks, JRA

Once I am having a hard time to find them, I would like to know if there are other years with the same part, so I could interchange it. Find below a picture of an original 1926 hood latch.   18. Studebaker in 1925 and 1926 provided hydraulic assisted 4-wheel brakes in cars equipped with disc wheels, as an option. The system is very interesting, with pistons installed inside the shift box, sharing the same oil. Such pistons assisted the braking process pushing the rods, acting over the mechanical brakes. Very engineerious, but complex and did not last...

After some time trying to buy parts, with limited success, I decided to try to reproduce some of them, so any detail pictures or images of this model will be very much appreciated. Main areas of interests on parts are: - rumble seat lid pull/grab handle - roadster top rests (this model uses 2 long and 3 short ones) - front bumper medallion (or bumperette medallion) - hood hooks/latches - dashboard bottoms I would also be grateful to receive any pictures of engine and hood compartment, so I can base my restoration project.   22. I have just checked my car, it is a 120” wheelbase model as I expected, once it is a sports roadster body. The production date stamped in the engine block is May 18th 1926, so after the Bulletin informing the tire size change. Rim width is 5”.

  25. I really like this forum, helps me to think and investigate further. Maybe the answer was closer to me. Based on the comment made by starlightcoupe I have researched in more details the books on my shelves. The service bulletin of May 10th 1926 describes tire sizes, see picture attached. I need to confirm the production date of my car on the engine, to ensure the right tire. The engine number is EP39841, closer to the end of production run in July 1926. My car is a sports roadsters, so I believe it is 120" wheelbase, but I also need to check. The question is around the rim width of 5" of my the disc wheels in my car, what would be the best option? Checking Universal Tire, there are two options from Firestone Champion: 600/20 (suggested rim width 3"-4" ) or 650/20 (suggested rim width 3.5"-4.5" ). What do you all think? Thansk, JRA
