  1. GaWajn, Check with these folks: http://www.saintlouisspring.com/ I know several people who have purchased springs from them and have been very happy with them. Very reasonable prices also.
  2. John, really enjoyed the pictures from the air museum! Especially the Me-262, since I'm in the process of reading a book about the development of Germany's jet/rocket arsenal.
  3. JP75, who did your Dad use to repair your radiator? I've used Gordon's in Winston-Salem a number of times, but always looking for other good shops.
  4. Great way to get younger folks involved in the hobby! Thanks for sharing.
  5. So John, what is an 'arena groomer'? Is this a regular cutting deck, as opposed to the bush hog?
  6. Good looking project Eric! Keep us up to date on progress. And remember........we really like pictures
  7. Doug, great story and pictures. looking forward to a video of it running!
  8. Pat, great job on this car. I know it has been a labor of love, and has a special place in your heart because of your Dad. This has been one of my favorite threads since I started spending time here. Thanks for doing such a great job of including us in your restoration thru words and pictures. What's your next restoration?
  9. It's amazing the extent of the thievery these days, and how bold the thieves are getting.
  10. Martin, good idea on the chain links! How is that swamp cooler performing?
  11. Pat, that simple pinstriping really looks good on the car! I don't think I would ever try pinstriping, my hand is not that steady.
  12. Cool series, I enjoyed it. Good reminder that we can have fun with old cars and not spend a ton of money.
  13. Amen to that Chris.......amen to that.
  14. Thanks John, wasn't sure exactly what it was. I did like the pictures of the TR2/TR3 Triumphs
  15. John, Do you happen to know what make/model this car is (see pic pasted below)?
  16. Martin, you are making good progress and moving right along! I've enjoyed your posts, and look forward to more on the engine.
  17. Martin, I always say that any progress is good progress! The dash parts are looking great.
  18. Wow, Don -- that interior is looking great! You really did a fine job cleaning it up. As for the issue of the shop not wanting to mount a tire more than 8 years old......I'm sure that is due to liability concerns, and are being directed by their legal department. I have not run into that, but still try to take my business to local tire shops; unfortunately, they are fewer and far between these days.
  19. Chris, good to see you making some progress on the Avanti! Life has a way of getting in the way of car fun, doesn't it!! Me, I only seem to get about 4 hours a week in on car stuff...... . Hoping that will change with retirement looming on the horizon, but then I talk to folks who say they are busier once they retired than when they were working. Oh well. I need to wash off the '54 Studebaker and go for a ride this weekend, to put me back in the proper frame of mind!
  20. 'Back in the day', the hot rodders sought out those aluminum Canadian heads for their flathead Ford powered cars. They looked really nice polished up, and were much cheaper than buying new finned aluminum heads from the aftermarket suppliers. They are around, but like you said, they are not easy to find.
  21. Wow, 7-1/2 inches! And we thought winter was finally over....... We only got rain with a little ice and freezing rain mixed in.
  22. With apologies to Alfred Lord Tennyson: Ahhh......springtime......and young men's fancy turns to thoughts of old cars.
  23. Ouch, that is a project for sure! John, how much snow/ice/freezing rain did you have last night and today? We have somewhere between 2 and 3 inches here in Winston-Salem. A lot of people without power (luckily not us). Turned to rain mid to late-morning, and now everything is a slushy mess......
