  1. Preferably Detroit; I've found online references to a number of older Buick dealers (most of which are no longer around), but all I've found are names (eg, "Haney Buick")--usually no address, no years of operation. I was hoping there might be an online resource I hadn't found yet. I suppose it doesn't have to be a functional dealer from exactly 1963, but it'd be nice...
  2. I'm in the metro Detroit are. No idea where the car is from.
  3. I'm trying to get a window sticker reproduction for my '63 from Triple A Enterprises (Window Sticker Reproductions for Corvette, Chevrolet, Dodge, Oldsmobile, Plymouth, Pontiac, Buick, and Cadilac). They need something to put in the "dealer" section; unfortunately, I don't know where my car came from. Anyone know of a way to find a Buick dealer who was in business in 1963? Thanks in advance...
  4. Looking to get floor mats for my '63, which has the standard blue vinyl interior. Ebay doesn't seem to yield much in the way of results, and I saw the reference to Legendary Auto Interiors, but I think I'd prefer something to match the blue. Have found three possible sources, and I'm wondering if any of you have any experience with these (or have another suggestion). Thanks in advance... 1963-1976 Riviera Floor Mats, Carpet Matched - Protect your carpet with these color matc | Interior Soft Trim | OPGI.com Auto Truck Trim Supply Buick Riviera Floor Mats, Set of 2 - 1963, 1964, 1965
  5. Additional question: any recommendations on standard v retractable belts and how they 'fit' in the car?
  6. Thanks for the help. I tried soaking the units in soapy water (per a friend with a 59 Impala in the same situation), but it appears they are irrevocably frozen. Am looking @ the Wesco belts now...
  7. Haven't confirmed this, but I believe I've blown a fuse with the Custom Autosound radio I just had installed in my '63 (and, yes, I know that may be indicative of other problems). Here's my question: I stopped by Advanced Auto Parts looking for a 7/8" 7.5A fuse--and I see both SFE and AGW types. What's the difference (seeing as how they look identical)? Not sure what's in there now (although perhaps the wrong 'type' might be making a difference). Thanks in advance... Adam
  8. @RivNut: Perhaps a number of earlier posts have been deleted, as a search for "clock compressed air" yielded no results, which us why I posted the question. I had already skimmed the "clock" topics; I'm now a bit clearer on the running slow/fast issue, but I didn't see anything specific to my issue.
  9. Got a replacement clock on my '63 which is still running a bit erratically. My mechanic suggested it's probably been sitting for a while and just needs to get used to running. A friend suggested shooting a bit of compressed air into the gap where the stem (to set the time) pokes out of the front of the clock. Most of the products I've seen--eg to clean computer keyboard--have some sort of chemical agent in addition to the air. Thoughts? Is this worth pursuing?
  10. Here's an odd one: when I'm running the a/c on my '63 and accelerate (usually from a standing start), I get a bit off hot air blowing out of the vents. Any insight...?
  11. Also, I assume there's no latch preventing the belt from moving--just friction and age?
  12. Fascinating. Would it help if I tried spraying some WD40 in there...?
  13. The '63 I purchased last fall appears to have aftermarket black lap belts installed in the front seats. The problem? They appear to be adjustable, but I can't figure out how. I've tried pushing and pulling various items on the buckle, but nothing seems to be moving, and so I wonder if I am missing something. The driver's belt is slightly snug on me and passable, but wouldn't fit if I were wearing a heavier coat. The passenger belt is adjusted for an extremely large person, and would probably not prevent an average adult male from careening into the windshield. I've attached a couple of photos; the backside of the buckle reads "Eberhard-500". Any ideas out there? Alternatively, can someone suggest a source to get belts to replace these with? Thanks in advance...
  14. Jim--Thanks for the info. However, I should have clarified that neither the Riviera (nor the Solstice) would be daily drivers. I have a company car for that particular task, and both vehicles are nice-weather-only leisure vehicles (and I have all-weather covers for both). Although the Solstice is not 'collectible', it is insured as a leisure, as I don't put very many miles on it.
  15. John--are these still available? I am looking for a left manifold.
  16. Purchased a '63 Riviera last fall, and it's been in a garage (that I'm renting) almost all the time since then. At the time, I was insuring my other classic (a '72 Austin Mini) through Hagerty. However, Hagerty won't insure the Riv as it will not be garaged fulltime; during nice weather, I'll be swapping it out with my Pontiac Solstice for about two weeks at a time, and it will be in my driveway. I've got a AAA policy on it at the moment, but thought I'd canvas the group for recommendations on the best way to insure this given the circumstances. Thanks in advance, Adam
  17. It's me again--new '63 owner. Both the clock and cruise are not working on; the clock's light is also out. Cruise did turn on once (but didn't seem to actually control the speed). Are these issues worth pursuing, or are they complex and/or perennial issues with this generation. I'm probably more interested in having the cruise working than the clock, but want to know what I'm getting myself into if I try getting it fixed. Thanks in advance, Adam
  18. Just bought a '63 with the standard 401 My mechanic thinks I have the 'wrong' air cleaner, but the only visible difference I see between what I have (see attached image) and the brochure is the decal; the brochure shows it says Riviera Wildcat, while mine reads Riviera Wildcat 445. Thoughts/clarifications? Thanks in advance... Adam
  19. Jim Cannon is correct. I have both the body and chassis service manuals, but what I don't have is the owners' manual. I bought a '64 manual off eBay for about $15, but have been unable to find a reasonably priced '63 manual (or reprint).
  20. Lucky you. $120 (currently on eBay) is too rich for my blood. I've got a search alert running.
  21. Rex: Well, in that case, would I need to remove the original finish (assuming it still looks good)? Here's a photo (sorry it's sideways)... My Riviera: Riviera wood trim
  22. What's the best way to care for the wood trim on my Riv? I was talking to someone who suggested boiled linseed oil in mineral spirits (which us what he uses for teak). Thoughts?
  23. As a new owner, I didn't think it would be that difficult finding a '63 owners' manual--but the two I spotted on eBay were $120 and $200! I don't need an original copy, but just having the info (eg, how to operate the climate controls) would be handy. Any suggestions? Thanks, Adam

  25. Hello, all! Just became owner of a gorgeous '63 Riviera (arctic white/blue) here in the metro Detroit area, and figured I'd join up here to meet other owners and enthusiasts; I've also joined the ROA and am awaiting my new members' package.
