  1. I need four white or grey smooth tires in any condition that will hold air and stay on the rim. I am looking for roll arounds for a restoration project. I would buy two's. Thankyou
  2. Sorry, I wasn't bright enough to take any pictures. He lives several miles away. I looked the diff. over pretty good and could find no identifying markings on it. It looked factory, or stock only aluminum, axel tubes and all. It was made in two halves, no center section. I've been at this car business several years now and I've never seen anything like it. I should have taken a picture. At the time I just didn't think. He was asking me what it was worth.
  3. I have a friend who has a rear differential and the entire differential housing is aluminum. It appears to be frm the early 1960's in design. would anybody know what this would be out of?
  4. I have a steering sector for a wooden boat. It is nickel plated and appears to have spark/throttle controls Any boat enthusiest out there?
  5. I sure would like to find a set of worn out cracked white 30x3s for a project I'm working on 1900 blacksmith made North Carolina rolling history
  6. I am attempting to reassemble a car that somebody else took apart with various parts missing. The parts were taken out of the drag link and lost. One end has a diameter of 1" the other 1 & 1/4". Both balls are 1" Does anybody know where I can get replacement parts? Or ideas? I thot of making a new drag link but where can I get the parts? The car is a 32 Graham 57.
  7. A 1908 white engine is worth about $4,ooo Somebody better go get that engine.
  8. I have the opportunity to buy a truckstell overdrive unit. It is missing the cable and kickdown switch. Can anybody tell me if the overdrive can be used without these pieces. Or can they be fabricated? I have a 1940 Chevrolet pickup that is still used as a work truck and I would like to have the overdrive for it obvious benefits in driving the truck
  9. Thanks for all the input. It is not shaped like a peanut. It is kinda sqaure-ish, and mounted pretty much in the center of the drivshaft. With the spline on the end of the drivshaft, I'm wondering if it might have come out of an enclosed drivshaft vehicle? I can't remember, but does the u joint fit on a yoke that slides over a splined driveshaft end on a 30's Chevy?
  10. Sorry, I didn't have enough sense to take any pictures. I did get the guys business card so I can go back and get it. The driveshaft that it was attached to was splined on one end as if it slid into the trans or rear, no u joint.
  11. I know its a stretch with limited input, but I was wondering, could this be an overdrive? I've heard of units that fasten to the driveshaft. This one was pretty rusty and I didn't see any identifying marks altho I didn't look real close. I have two cars that I could use it on. Could it be something else? I am thinking about buying it to use but I don't really know anything about it. The guy who has it doesn't know. He suspects that it is an overdrive or perhaps a two speed of some sort. Any ideas?
  12. I looked at what appears to be an overdrive unit recently and was wondering if anybody can help with a liitle more info. I don't have much info, I didn't have much forsight. It was attached to a driveshaft, I think enclosed. It was about the right size for an overdrive. I believe it may have been shifted by cable. Any of this sound familiar?
  13. I'm looking for some roll around tires for a project. Would love to find some dirty tires in good shape. Any body got anything? Thanks
  14. O.K. I'll bite George, can you provide a little more info? Not all duesy's are worth that kind of money. I passed on one several years ago for 250K
  15. David, I am interested in your tire but I need four. Did you have any used ones? Allen in N.C.
  16. David, Hey! I'm interested, altho I really need four. Do you have any others, used? Allen in N.C.
  17. I have done a lot of research over the past couple of years on the Avon blue and the fish scale process. I recently helped a restoration shop to restore a 32 Indy race car with the original fish scale finish. We did a lot of research and found original data sheets on how the finish was applied. It is less dramatic than modern pearles but a very unique, and amazing finish. The car was shown at a concours event in Fla. and one of the judges had seen it in 32 at the 500. He said that it was the most correct restoration of an original race car that he had seen, and it caused quite a stir at the event. When stripping the car, a small area of presumed original color was found and the car was painted possibly the Avon Blue. The search goes on to verify that Avon Blue.
  18. I have been looking for an original, sadly, I don't have the money now. I sure do love that original patina tho.
  19. Has set outside for years, but is in fair condition. Including frame, front axel(missing springs), short block, trans, driveshaft, rear end, steering column. Wheels aren't any good, but chassis could be restored and would make a great period racer. I am not willing to part out, will sell complete only. Great for spare parts. Wonder what a new axel would cost? In N.C. $500
  20. 1904-1905 patent date This is just the base and magnets with armature, basicly everything in the middle, missing both ends. What is there is in good shape. Not Cheap
  21. Thankyou! Yes I misspelled, it is Torbensen. What year is your truck? I would love to see what the axel ends look like. The axels are cut off, but it appears the axels are open, no housing. I'm assuming there is a pillow block at the axel end to support the weight of the vehicle? Is it an open driveshaft? It appears small for a truck differential. Allen
  22. I ran across a guy last week who had a Torgensen rear differential patent date 1912. The Standard Catalog of American Cars says that he made cars early and later made component parts, mostly for trucks. Just curious, does anybody know if any Torgensen cars exist or what vehicles used the diffential?
  23. I am curious as to who owns this car, and what the name of that blue is? I have a four door sedan.
  24. I am looking for 4 30x3 clincher tires smooth in white or grey, used condition. Do you have anything?
