1. Larry: Thanks for posting the photo on the 1937 Roadmaster. I did get a chance to talk with Dick for a while; mostly about his car. I loved it and didn't mind telling him more than once.
2. Bottom line; it is always a great time. My wife was with me and adds to the enjoyment. 360 days to go for 2013. As one vendor's sign read. "October is Hershey the rest of the year is waiting".
3. Great meet this year. I was however, disappointed that I didn't get to see some of the folks I had hoped to see. What were your three favorite Buicks at the show on Saturday? My picks. 1-The Blue, 1937 Buick Roadmaster 4 Door Convertible. (Dick Beckley's) 2- Right next to the 37, The Blue, 1940 Buick Limited 4 Door Convertible. (Dave Prueitt's) and further up from those two. 3 - A toss up for third: Doug Seybold's 1941 Yellow Roadmaster Roadster or Stemens 1941 Salmon colored Super 4 Door Convertible. Sorry I don't have pictures. I forgot the darn camera at the hotel.
4. >Several Buick grill emblems to add to my collection. 1932, 1939, and 1941. All very nice but the 41 the best of the group. > A great serving tray from late circa 1920 advertising in lithograph Kuntz's Cafe with automobiles parked in front of the cafe. Awesome piece. >An air cleaner for my 1938 Buick. Needs to painted but still a good piece. >New Packard Sweatshirt. I'm a Buick guy but I got cold when the wind picked up on Friday. Some other odds and ends not important to mention here. Oh yes! My wife after getting separated in the crowd. Or was it because I was still walking and didn't stop.
5. Your best bet is eBay. Are you a member of the 1936-1938 Buick Club? The club can also be helpful. I'm at Hershey this week. send me your email and I'll get back to you at the end of the week, with some contacts.
6. One thing about work, It gets in the way of the important things. Such as getting to Hershey when I'd like. But I'm here till late Saturday. So the rest is good.
7. It's going to be a great car. What's the model? Super?
8. With the cost of gas and the push to go green, here's the car Al Capone would use today. Photo from the web.
9. It has been quoted that John Dillinger preferred Buicks for his get aways. Here's another game board depicting "Gangsters" and "Cops". I bought this game about two years ago. I made the purchase because of the automobile graphics and its likeness to Buicks. This game is much rarer than the one I posted above. (See post #7) Made in 1938 by Parker Brothers it capitalized on the popularity of G-Man Melvin Purvis. Another great graphic of pursuit.
10. Did the cops use Buicks? Here's a game board from my collection that I felt would be a good addition to this thread. I bought this on eBay about ten years ago for the automobile graphics, and it's likeness to a 1936 Buick. Finding this game with this cover is rare. Parker Brothers ran the cover for a short time before changing it to another design. It's from the mid 1930's and depicts quite nicely what "The Cops" used in pursuit.
11. Mike: You gave us all a tough one. Could this by chance be a pickup truck? GMC mabe? Does your father remember working on a truck?
12. The more I study the photo and what the young fellow is doing suggest that the car is of GM heritage. The boy, it appears is fixing the glove box light. It appears to be the same kind I have in my 1938 Buick. The light goes on and off automatically by simply opening or closing the glove box door. A tiny ball bearing rolls in the fixture of the light to turn on or turn off the light with the movement and final position of the glove box lid. The Keys... In my view the keys look GM. Also, in 1937 and 1938 Buicks a steering wheel lock was part of the steering column. It does not appear in this photo It's a great photo and tells a wonderful story. I wish it was part of my collection.
13. I own a 1938 Buick. It positively is not a 1938 Buick nor is it a 1937 Buick.
14. Pete: Good luck on the sale and on your efforts with the '51. I hope your car goes to a good home and with someone who will keep it stock.
15. Sandy: If the interior of your 90 series is any indication of condition, Your Buick must be top notch. Great looking interior.
16. Thank you Brian for the addition. I had forgotten just a bit how the emblem looked.
17. Gene: Having grown up in a 1955 Buick, I too have a fondness for the side emblems. Buick had a way with the designs of their cars and the "perks" that went along with it. The Gold Buick Emblem on the doors of a 1955 Roadmaster is one of those "perks". A touch of class in my view. I have said it before and I'll say it again. Buick had class and style. Not glitz. (Century side emblem from the web.)
