fatbuick
Does anyone have any ideas to increase the volume of air going to the windshield? Mine is very weak. Thanks
TKRIV
Assuming you are talking about your 65 and you are not comparing air flow on your Riv to modern day cars. If there was a fault with the fan itself you would hear some noise and the fan is easy to inspect. The blower switch on the console (OFF, Low-Low, Low, HIGH) could be at fault. I have opened this switch on past Rivs and have found the mechanism covered in what looks more like a hard goo than grease which is the perfect recipe for volt drop to occur. To open and clean this switch is easy but to get access to it is not a 5 min. job. You have to open up the console and remove two 1/4" hex head screws. Before you go down this time consuming task, place a jumper between terminals 3 & 4 on the resistor block next to the Blower Motor. (Photo shows the long spade terminals with the plug removed for clarity) This effectively removes one of the internal speed control resistors inside the duct and will increase the speed of the fan and provide more air flow. If that gives you with the air flow you want you can hard wire the connection. For the electrical schematic refer to the Service Manual Figure 10-162 TomK

Eric's.64.Superwildcat
The gauge of the jumper wire seems too small for the amount of current the fan can pull. Ensure that you use properly sized conductor.
Seafoam65
If the fan speed is OK on the other modes, the problem is that your defroster duct is crumbling and most of the air is leaking out behind the dash. The defroster dust is made of a material that crumbles when it gets old.
RivNut
On the home page of the ROAs website, is a list in the left column. On that list is " other interesting links." Open that and click on the 63 - 65 Tech Tips. One of the tips is on "heater modifications." Your car is equipped with a four speed fan. It explains how to use the high speed fan, which works only with the A/C, with the heater and defroster. This will give you that extra air flow you're wanting. Thank Chip for that one. RivNut
Chip is amongst us, he just hasn't revealed himself publicly. I figured out who he was based on some old threads when I compared them to a couple of write-ups on his site.
