FS 1949 Roadmaster professional car

First off, this is not my car! It was advertised locally here in Ontario (Canada) as a '48 Buick, so I contacted the owner. He gave my permission to post his car here to give it a wider audience. It is listed on the ownership as a '48, but it is clearly a '49, and is an all steel body, not a woody, so it must of started life off as a Flxible hearse or ambulance, not sure which at this point though.

This will be a big project, and here are the particulars. The original drive train is missing and he has a Caddy 500 ci engine that he was planning to put in it. Much metal work has been done, as you can tell by the photos, it looks to of been done well. He says that all of the glass, etc. is there too, but not installed.

All the photos he sent me are reposted here, and you can contact him directly if you wish more info.

He is asking $6,000. Canadian, for it.

Contact Peter via email, at pbontius@cogeco.ca

What I will do, if someone is serious about the car, would be to drive out to see it (it is located in the Trenton, Ont., area) as I'm about an hour and half's highway drive away and have a closer look at it.

With the current exchange (40%, or so) rate it will be a bargain for a person from the US to buy it.

Dale, I do not know if the wheelbase is different from a standard '49 Roadmaster, which is 126 in., the coachmaker I believe is Flxible, of Ohio. This car has been in the area for at least a few years, I talked to a previous owner a few years ago, who told me its' a Flxible built car.

If anyone there has "70 Years of Buick", a Crestline book by George Dammann, there are some pictures of these cars of page 220, and the hearse looks like the one that is for sale.
