Packard Sign

It's from the mid 20's - early 30's.   Could have either hung on the side of a building, or set on the sidewalk with a metal frame to hold it up.  A friend of mine has one of these with the brackets.   If you want to sell, send me a PM.

I'm sure there are, but this is an original.  Took 6 hours of cleaning, is extremely heavy with the porcelain and is from a reputable collector here in CA.  He, also, gave me the original bracket, but that needs to be cleaned and painted.  It came with a sign attached that was painted black and said office on it.  Taking the paint off of it and underneath is a porcelain sign for Cooper Tires.  Just a sample of what he's got attached.

I am sorry to inform you that in my opinion, the sign is almost certainly a repop made 20 plus  years ago. Like West Peterson said, this is one of the most reproduced signs years ago because of the desire/value. It should say "property of Packard Motor Cars" or something like that at the bottom ( I can't remember and am not looking at it). And I believe the one you have is a little smaller than the originals. There are slight variations that were not done correctly such as the grommets are in the wrong places; the radiator cap is different, etc. I am sending you a picture of two real ones, one of which I have in storage and the other is a friends. Notice the differences as well as the writing at the bottom of both of these.

Thanks for all the input on the sign.  One way or another, they are pretty nice signs!  We had a Gas Bash out here the day after I got back from vacation, so as usual, went up to find a few treasures (one man's junk, is another's treasure) and came across a few nice Packard items......old oil cans with the soldered seams, moto-meter and a neon Packard Sign that probably came out of someones estate. Weighs a ton, but 2 of us managed to get it up on the wall in the garage.  The red is a really nice deep orange/red within the clear glass like the old beer signs of the 50's.  I'm assuming this is probably from the 70's early 80's.

Is the neon supposed to be white? I thought the factory Packard signs used the phosphorus coated glass to show a white neon stroke of glass. Does anyone know for sure?
