checker
First, sorry for the small photo but this is as good as it gets. Can anyone I.D. this taillight assembly? It's off a US car, most likely mid 50s. I intentionally cropped the car out of the photo because this was a custom install someone did.

checker
DJ, just googled the 53. Wow, you're good. Thanks. Ad I just read says also Canadian Pontiac.
john2dameron
Yeah, '53 Chevy and since a Canadian Pontiac was a Chevy with a Pontiac grille I guess that would be correct also. IMHO the '54 Chevy grilles and tail-lights were big improvement over the '53's.
Bleach
Actually I didn't need to google it. I know my Chevy tail lights pretty good.I forgot about the Canadian Pontiacs being restyled Chevies.

checker
I didn't mean that you googled it. I did to see them on a Chevy. Here is the original photo not cropped. It's a 56-58 A8 Checker that someone put these lights on. Checker did not come with backup lights then. The taxi company must have wanted to increase safety. Bleach
Interesting. It would have made a great "what car is this?" thread. Those tail lights would have really thrown people off.
