Guest
I already know that I am going to get slammed on this one, but please hear me out first:I own a vehicle whose engine has siezed. After removing all parts, sand blasting, cleaning etc., and after 2 years of frustration searching, using forums, ebay, swap meets etc. I cannot find the necessary rare parts to restore the engine. I do have a complete drivetrain that I could use to swap into the vehicle. (Chevy 350/TH350/10 bolt Chevy)This is an age old question: swap and drive or wait more years and eventually get lucky (if someone else doesn't outbid me on ebay)? DodgeSavesUMoney
Hi, what engine do you currently have? What year, make, model of car are you thinking of the swap for?
dwollam
Try egge machine. They have tons of stuff. www.egge.comAnd if you must put a v-8 in it at least put a Mopar in it, there are millions of 318-360 out there, but original parts are not that hard to find. Tell us what you have and need.Dave
dodge55
Good Afternoon,Did you try Dodge City, or Andy Bernbaum? I believe engines from 1935 thru 1941 can be interchanged, maybe even into the late forties. I have seen many pop up on E-bay, both under Dodge and Plymouth. How bad is the engine? What parts are you looking for? My 1937 4 door has a cracked outer water jacket, right behind the oil filter. I drilled stress relief holes and ground out the crack, then used JB Weld. I'll probably need a new engine at some point myself. They're out there, just a matter of keeping on top of the auctions and parts places. All the engines I have seen were pulled out to make the car into a street rod. Did you try that route? I have even asked sellers on E-bay what they did with the engine when they rodded an applicable year car. Keep the faith. Nothing like the sound of a Dodge flat head six!Steve
Guest
This restoration is of a 1927/28 Dodge Brothers 124. It's a 4Dr and the back 2 are suicide doors. It has a 6 CYL. This one is out of the junk yard. egge is very expensive to say the least and I need a crankshaft (they don't have), pistons/rings, connecting rods/bearings/bolts (they don't have), oil pan (they don't have) etc. etc. The oil pan was missing and the bottom of the engine had been sitting on the ground all these years. The wooden wheels had been removed and the frame/engine/tranny/rear were sitting in/on the bare ground. I have been waiting for a swap to show up in ebay, but they all have been 4 CYL which was more common for 1927. The late 1927/early 1928 had an optional 6 CYL. I've since taken everything apart, sand blasted everything, soda blasted the body parts, and have the body/frame primered/painted. Everything including the engine block, tranny, rear, leaf springs etc. etc. were soda blasted and back together. Only thing left is to get the engine parts. I have a 350/TH350/10 bolt rear re-built sitting in the garage looking at me. I've also got a 383/tranny/rear out of a 1999 Dodge Durango that I haven't rebuilt yet, but is also staring me square in the eye every time I walk into the garage. It's just a matter of finally deciding to give this car a new heart. Ever had that problem that an engine would just look at you in the garage no matter where you are standing? I feel like they are watching my every move. I have bad dreams at night of them having a high-noon gun fight to decide who gets the "girl" <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> Well in this case: the car
Bob Scafani
I have the parts you need for the six cylinder. If you pay the shipping and crating you can have them. I'm in CA though. dbracer26@aol.com
