Guest imported_MrEarl
I have purchased some wheels from someone who is going to be at Hershey but I am not going to be able to make it there this year. Is there anyone headed back south through Georgia on I-75 or I-85 and could give 5 Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels a ride. I could meet you at an exit along the way.
West Peterson
I'll ask my dad. I think he's driving a Roadmaster, and may have room. He lives in Roswell. Would that be close enough?
novaman
As a last resort, I could get them in Hershey, bring them back to NC and get them to GA when I go to my sister's for Christmas. I'd be headed down I-85 to Gainesville. I would need to know by the 28th if you need me. I won't be able to regularly check email after that. alsancle
Does anyone know where CW 45 - 47 is at Hershey? Is that the choclate field? I've got to lug Lamar's wheels by hand and I'm hoping its not across the street.A.J.
R W Burgess
Let's see!? AJ is lugging those darn wheels across the field. Somebody else will have to transport them to Georgia. What the devil is Lamar going to be doing? I know! I know!! He'll be riding around in nice "sunshiney" weather in Georgia. You'll smart Lamar! Wayne
Shop Rat
A.J., Don't lug them by hand. There are boys there with wagons/carts that will haul them for you. For a price of course, but I see them hauling a lot of stuff around so the price must be reasonable. Let a kid make an honest buck.
novaman
CW 45-47 is the Choclate field. CW is the east side of the ailse (main street) the chocolate filed vendor enter in the morning. And it is also on the south side of the food court and tramway that runs thorugh the middle of the field. According to the map I have there is a food vendor next door (corner of main atreet and Center street). If you go to hershey region's website you can downlaod a pdf map pf the choclate field. alsancle
Good, I know where that is. I've got to go from the far right corner (looking from the bridge) of the choclate field. Now, if my dad is willing to bring them from the hotel to his spot in the Choclate Field Lamar is all set.

Believe me I'd rather be in the rain at Hershey luggin a set of wire wheels through a field of mud. And THEN I've got to drive up to Winston-Salem to pick up the wheels from "progoofoff" who's space is CW45-47.He has offered to bring them that far. Actually West, Roswell is only about an hour from me and if that would in anyway work better for AJ it would work for me. And Novaman where the heck is Mebane? Dang I hate to be so much trouble!! But DoraB sure is gonna be pretty all decked out in them shiny wire spoke wheels.
novaman
It's about half way between Greensboro and Raliegh on I-85/I-40. Asheboro which is at the northend of the Forest is about an hour drive up 220 north & I-85 North. Winston-Salem is about an hour west of me. By the way, my sister lives in Canton,GA. (don't know how quickly you need the wheels. I can transport the wheel from Choclate field to my spaces in the Green field easily.)
novaman
Just looked at the GA map, in Dec. I'll be exiting I-85 at the Pendergrass exit. That would be about 25 miles for you.

I tried sending you a PM, but evidently you've used up your quota of receiving such things and it wouldn't send. If you need the wheels sooner, let me know. I still haven't gotten a hold of my dad yet, but it shouldn't be a problem for him to fit those wheels in his Roadmaster, as long as they're clean and free of any tires.West
progoofoff
There is another reason for me being at CW 45 - 47 other than being a grunt for Lamar.I`ll have a few Buick parts. How about an NOS `59 rear bumper panel? Also a 1960. Come by and say hello.Bob
novaman
Bob, I guess either one of our places would be about the same as for getting the the wheels to NC. I'll stop by to say hi. Probably will be in the Chocolate field Thursday. Going to hit the orange first in case of rain, then red being fartherest away. typically the choc. field isn't of value to me (never got much there) but it is the day I spend a bunch of time visiting old friends. Wouldn't be surprized if some of them happen to remember me being knee high to a grasshopper.
Guest imported_MrEarl
THANK YOU ALL for you offers. West's dad happens to be friends with AJ's dad and has offered to bring the wheels down to Roswell, about 60 miles from me. And how right and fitting that they will be delivered in a Roadmaster and that they will be ran on a Roadmaster. Just another perk of being a member of this great AACA. Thanks y'all. West Peterson
I hope that beautiful car doesn't spend much time on top of that trailer.
novaman
That's is what this hobby is about as far as I'm concerned, helping each other to have fun with old cars and to learn about other kinds of cars.

Note the roses I picked up on the way home. A little something for the missus.
West Peterson
My wife would have stepped on the roses on her way to the car, I'm assuming yours might have also.
