shoreice
I've seen mustangs and 'vetts converted into wagons, has anyone ever seen a reatta desecrated this way? These were usually "styling exercises" by the factory.
padgett
I always thought the P1800ES looked better than the P1800. I suspect the same could be true of a Reatta XL (extra luggage).
Guest DTerry
Agreed. How 'bout this one?

How 'bout this one?

That lowered/ big chrome wheels thing is getting old..... I saw a newish Caddy with gigantic chrome wheels. Why is that look better? All the fifties era street rods are starting to look the same. Reatta Estate Wagon? I don't think so..
Don B.
This guy that works for Summit BOE had '70 Cuda and grafted a Gemlin rear roof and hatch to it. So I guess it is a camback, it didn't look too bad.Now that one of mine got hit and rear window blown out, it might be an idea.
Guest F14CRAZY
All street rods look the same. Reason why I don't like them.
JWC
Not all street rods are created equal, look deeper and you will see a difference.
Vincent Vega
I've seen my share. Sure enough there are differences. Lately they all seem to be following the Chip Foose, Boyd Coddington appearance lead. Drive train? Crate SBC, yawn. Look in this months Buick Bugle for a very nice street rod. 1953 Buick. I guess they call these "Resto Rods" now. Whatever they call it, it appeals to me more than a chopped/channelled/lowered/shaved car with 22 inch rims, SBC drive train and 97 T-Bird bucket seats. manikmekanik
I agree with JWC, as "Rat Rods" are all created UN-EQUAL.Here's an example from our freind, JRay, 1946 Ford chopped (OFF) top roadster.Note the Roth-inspired fink-hanger shifter handle, custom satin-black finish.Powered by crate 350, auto and Ford 9-inch, this one does'nt need big, blingin' wheels! manikmekanik
Here's another angle, I'm considering a shell like this one to serve as a bed for one of the 50's trucks.
manikmekanik
...and here's the tail of this boat!Would make a beautiful truck bed!
Guest F14CRAZY
Are there any restored cars from that era that are stock anymore? Like old pickups are ALWAYS street rods.
manikmekanik
I have a few "stock" ones, from the early 50's.see if you can find one in this photo, and identify it.
Guest F14CRAZY
Deh, I'm not good with old trucks. It looks a bit like a Chevy, but watch, it'll probably be an Intertrashional or something
DeeBee
The more every other Reatta gets customized the more unique mine becomes.
JWC
I would love to have Chip Foose do any of my cars, he always tries to get the in put on how the owner would like the car done, and I think he does a very classy job on what ever he does, unlike Boyd where it's his way or no way.Attached is a 68 Impala, work in progress
shoreice
Randy, it needs a built FLATHEAD! Or at least a Ford bigblock, maybe a 428 FE. JWC, nice Impala, now tell us about the tractor.
Guest F14CRAZY
I'd have an old truck but with like a Power Stroke drivetrain to tow stuff like our small backhoe.Too many trailer queens in this world already . Foose and all probably don't know what a V6 or a fuel injector is
padgett
Why ? Because there is usually not enough left that is stock to restore. The two biggest advances in the last 50 years are tires and drivetrains. If I were building a rod, it would be 200-250 cid (aluminum Buick V-8 anyone ?) and as electronic as possible. But then my next project will probably be a Vixen. At least the ABS is fixed 8*).ps 1950 Chev 3100 ? manikmekanik
I have a '53 F5 with a flathead V8, ready for resto! And a 330 hemi/auto in the bus, slated for the '50 F3 Sanford & Son truck. There's a late model rolling chassis nearby, (same photo), slated for the '53 Chevy, out of convenience. Also have a '39 Chrysler flathead straight six in the barn, FS. Guest DTerry
Aw, it's not mine, Randy. It was on EBay a couple of years ago...sold pretty cheap as I remember. My wife almost had a cow when I bid on it, so I let it get away.
