  1. Okay, I'm emailing the program out today. A copy will go to each person that sent me their email via the preview site. I hope you enjoy it. If after using it a bit you find that it needs some things, please let me know. A way to send me the information is built right into the program. There is a special email address included with the program to which you can send comments/suggestions/hate mail etc. Thanks
  2. The problem with AutoTrader is that many of the listings are dealers even though they claim to be private individual sellers. Nothing like starting the deal with a liar. Beware of AutoTrader.
  3. Yeah, only windows although it will run on just about any version (95 through Vista). I had looked at something lke Filemaker that would run on MACs or Windows PCs but that would mean having a copy of that software on the machine or costly runtimes and all that. This is very clean, a compiled single EXE and data files and that is it. It would almost fit on an old floppy. The program is royalty free so it isn't going to cost a single penny to run it. It's also very fast and updates are plainless. You get an emailed EXE that is zipped and just save it. It then updates the system all by itself. Sorry.
  4. I know, I know, I keep adding things. I thought it though and many of you own more than one car. So it was a pretty simple matter to make the program a multi-car system. All of the features in the program can be used for multiple cars. They can be any car, any make/model blah blah blah. So I look in the mirror and say duh.
  5. Saturday. It is FREE as in NO MONEY. I will email it to you. Just go the the preview site and submit the form. For those who ask WHY? Just because.
  6. Is your tranny locking up at speed? Given how smooth the 3800s are this could easily be the problem. This is especially true on 88 and 89s where you don't see the engine RPMs unless you set the CRT to gauge mode. Another way to check is to get the car up to freeway speed. Flat road, steady speed. Take your foot off the accelerator and then back on but with a little more gas. You should feel the acceleration. Let up to cruise and you should feel the engine slow down. It feels sort of like a 4 speed but it's just the converter locking up. Without the lockup, you'll lose a good 5 mpg or more.
  7. Okay, the form on the preview site has been modified. NOTE: entering you name is optional. I will not use the email address provided for any reason other than to send you the copy of the program and updates if you wish. I'm still looking for a logo that will be the icon for the Reatta and maybe an image for the background. Also, how about a name other than "The Reatta Program" unless that suits you.
  8. This Saturday is release day for the Reatta program. I hope some of you are able to enjoy it. Some of the new features that it will have: *Reatta for Sale web page and flyer maker (from database information and pictures) *Ability to conduct 400 point show judging and store the results *Store URLs for Reatta resources like parts and accessories, other websites *A way to replicate the database to a central store (only if you want) to maintain up to date information for VIN#s and other non-personal info. Personal like purchase price etc will not replicate) and a host of other goodies. I've thought about how to get to those that want a copy. IT IS FREE. It is small enough to email to people. I'll modify the form on the preview page to allow those interested to include their email address and in that way I can send copies out directly. I was going to make it a download but then I I'd need to set up a site just for that. I also contemplated putting it up on a related site but I just think this is the best way. If it has a bug or something, you'll know who to scream at. Remember, you do not need any other software to run this. It is a standalone program, you can run it on a laptop, desktop or even a tablet PC (great for those 400 point inspections). You can run it on a LAN at home and access the information from more than one PC at the same time. What this program does and the features it has is basically up to you right now. Thanks
  9. Having gone through the forum and Ebay to sell my Reatta <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> I took a long hard look at the process. At the risk of being too blunt, it sucks. In the forum you get a lot of exposure but you are also dealing with a lot of knowledge so getting hammered on price is a reality. On Ebay you can get a better price but it ain't cheap. They have a fee for everything. I'm waiting for the logon fee which I'm sure they will start as soon as a bit of greed comes into play. I was watching the news the other day and saw this baseball player signature thing going up for auction, not on Ebay but on feesell. So I took a look at the site. WOW! For 1% you can sell anything and keep 99% for yourself. Instead of posting only one picture and being charged for each additional, you get 9 pictures. You can have a "reserve" "buy it now" without additional charges! Now for the real news, there is no charge to list, only if your item sells. Plus, you can relist automatically if the item doesn't sell or even if it does and you have more than one item to sell. So I thought about all you folks. Ebay is great because it has huge exposure but FreeSell is easier to use, has more features and costs far less. No sale, no charge. With Ebay, you are paying even if it doesn't sell. List a car a few times and add up the charges. It isn't pretty. So, I put a few things up there for sale and it was so easy and painless. Very fast too. You can make ads look good with much less effort that Ebay. Give it a look at www.freesell.com I think this place might be a good place to sell Reattas although it might take some time to gain the recognition that Ebay might have. Since there are lots of viewers here, it could easily become THE place to buy and sell Reattas. BTW, the only good part about selling a Reatta is knowing that you get a new chance to buy another some day. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

    Emergency Brake

Agreed, the bang is normal. It isn't going to hurt anything, it just sounds so. For sure you'll never mistake letting it go.
  11. Okay, I added a new feature. PARTS! The program will now track any parts inventories you have. You can browse for parts using a search feature (not a query) that will look through the entire file including the memos to find what you are looking for. Take a look.
  12. I'm going to put up a form on that website so that suggestions can be made right there. It will help me keep track of what still needs attention. The distributed program will have a feature built-in to email those directly from the program. That way you'll know when something you asked for gets included or enhanced.
  13. Much appreciated. Now onto finishing the Reatta Program.
  14. Much appreciated. Now onto finishing the Reatta Program.
  15. New thread, same as the old one but this will insure everyone can see the URL for the program. http://www.hi-rizer.com/Reatta/Pics/photo_gallery.htm Again, I'll have this ready to distribute by the weekend, depending on the caveats I listed on the previous message. Also, if you have suggestions, they are welcome. Oh yeah, the screens can have a background but how about if we let you folks decide which picture should be on the main screen as a background? I'll leave it to you folks to figure that one out. When you have it, let me know. It will be displayed as a SPLASH screen when you start the program. The other one will be the background for the main screen over which all other screen will open. ORIGNIAL TEXT DESCRIBING THE PROGRAM: Okay, here it is. While I'm not an engine wrench I can make all kinds of things on Mills and lathes and I also wrote computer programs. Soooooooo, I took the Reatta Excel file and write a standalone (works on a network too) program that does some nice things. For example: 1. Listing if all Reattas in the file. You can import and export the information to Excel if you want. 2. Query buy any field or combination of fields. You can query for all of something plus another or more things but not equal to other things. You can really find some interesting things. It tallies the results for you. 3. Tracks service and maintenance. Manages costs, where you got the service, parts used etc. Lets you add pictures. Say, before and after? A word processing feature lest you keep very detailed notes about service and maintenance. 4. Journal and images The last item is really a jewel. You can use it to store pictures of you Reatta, trips you make, competitions you enter etc. The picture viewer allows you so zoom in or out of the picture. Since the pictures are stored as files, you can put about 1 billion pictures in the system. The Remarks feature allows you to write about your history and experiences with the Reatta. There is a spell checker built-in and you can use various fonts, text sizes, colors, formatting etc. You can also save the remarks to an external file so you can email it or use it in ads, word processors etc. 5. Reports. I'm finishing these up. The reports will print in color on any printer you have BUT IT WILL ALSO MAKE WEB PAGES OR PDF Files automatically for you.!!!! Here is the deal. This is not yet completely finished. I have some minor things to do before I release it for general use. I should have this done by the weekend and I'll then throw it up on my website for downloading. I also want to include the For Sale item checklist. That way the program can generate a for sale ad at the lick of a button. YOU DO NOT NEED ANY ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE TO USE THIS. It is a compiled program. You do not need Access, Exel, Word or anything like that. It does not do strange things to your PC and it will run on just about any Windows PC, from 95 to Vista. So here are some screen shots. The program is very small size wise. It's about 2.5 megs I think so it can even be emailed. There are 2 caveats. I still need to get permission of the owner of the excel file to re-distribute the information since I didn't compile it. I would of course provide credits in an "About" feature in the program. The other is that I'm sure there will be quite a few "suggestions". I welcome them. I can't promise that I'll be able to put all of them into the program, I'll do my best. The program can do many more things than I have put in so far. For example, it can store sound/video files easily and play them back. Things I'm going to put into the first release: 1. A web browser 2. A file viewer (view native PDF, Pictures/Videos etc) 3. A calendar to schedule service and maintenance with recurring reminders etc. 4. Ability to email records to others directly from the application. yada yada yada. Now for some answers: 1. How long did this take so far? About 4 hours. 2. How long will it take to finish? About a bazillion hours since it will never be "finished" 3. How much does it cost you? NOTHING. Merry Christmas late. 4. Can you get a special version that does something only you want? Yes 5. Can there be a version that runs on the web so that everyone can share everything? Yes 6. Can you do #5 by tomorrow? No Since the program can generate a web page, I want it to be able to make a For Sale ad that can then simply be hosted on a website. The ad would include pictures, the service records sans personal id information etc. That's it folks.
