Guest gecco
unfortunately, time is not going to permit a cross country trek with the 4-holer this year. I am flying in Thursday and out on Sunday. But the award sounds great!

Centurion
Chris, we'll figure out how to get that '55 Century to the meet -- one way or another!
BigFella
I like the website. Simple, straight forward, easy to navigate and find information. They should fix it so it looks right in browsers other than MS Explorer :-)
Centurion
I understand that 351 rooms have already been reserved for the duration of the National Meet at the Hilton Hotel and Red Lion Hotel. The Red Lion Hotel indicates that it will continue to accept reservations at the BCA rate, despite the fact that the original room blocks have been fully committed. The hotels have been delighted by the response, so we're now finding it easier to obtain additional rooms at the deeply-discounted BCA room rate of $109. (Since Bellevue is a significant business center with considerable Microsoft and other high-tech industry, the regular mid-week room rates at these hotels are $250.)The Red Lion has agreed to extend the BCA room rate to BCA members for three days before and three days after the National Meet. There should be plenty of rooms still available at the Red Lion, but we're also opening the Sheraton Hotel, immediately next door to the Red Lion, to the BCA. Remember to request the BCA room rate.Room rates and the room block for the Sheraton are as follows, and you'll see that rates drop as we approach the weekend:Tuesday, July 24 - 20 rooms @ $169Wednesday, July 25 - 20 rooms @ $169Thursday, July 26 - 50 rooms @ $139Friday, July 27 - 50 rooms @ $109Saturday, July 28 - 50 rooms @ $109Sheraton Hotel contact information: 425-455-3330 or 800-235-4458100 112th Ave. NEBellevue, WA 98004

Guest windjamer
Reading the thread Roberta closed down, and having never attended a buick meet, I have to ask Just how many cars do you get at a meet, and what the heck is wrong with ny for a meet? I plan to attend soon, but darn I sure would like it to be less than 7-800miles away.
BUICK RACER
But Brian, I am hearing from some friends that they are getting the registrations back being only in the 90's as registered and causing some confusion on how big your event will be, do you have other info to share as maybe to change this perception on how big this event will be? I haven't registered as of yet either, will do shortly, thi,
Centurion
Roberta, as of March 5, the registrations person gave me a copy of the registration form with the numbers of people who had already registered for each tour/event/etc. As of that date, 135 total registration forms had been received, and they were continuing to arrive at the rate of more than one each day.As the folks who put together the Rochester meet can tell you, many folks wait until the final weeks to submit their registrations. We have been advised that we are likely to receive as many registrations during the months of May and June alone as we have received in total prior to May 1. Even many of the locals have not yet submitted their registrations.Since many folks reserve their rooms early and are slow to send in their registrations, it is really difficult to say exactly how many are coming. As of about two weeks ago, I know that 351 hotel rooms were reserved. We're also hearing from many folks who are planning to stay with friends or relatives. There has never been a BCA National Meet in the Pacific Northwest before, and none have been held in a West Coast state since Sacramento in 1991. This makes it difficult to predict how many will attend. Given our geographical distance from numerous large, urban centers, the meet will most certainly be smaller than those held in the states surrounding the Great Lakes. Based on what I'm seeing, I estimate 300 - 350 cars, but no one really knows. (To put this number into perspective, we see 150 - 175 Buicks at our local one-day show each year in Puyallup.) We are seeing a strong response from California, which is very encouraging. The bottom line is that there will be plenty of cars, regardless of the exact number, and the mix of cars will be almost completely different from those that you've seen at previous national meets. Some folks think that the smaller meets can be more fun, and I have confidence that we'll have a great time.We have a meeting at the hotels on Sunday, and I'm hoping to obtain some updated registration numbers. I'll keep you posted.
JohnD1956
Brian, is it possible to post what is included in the Room rentals? I mean things like: Suites? Coffee pots? Fridges? How close these places actually are to the show site and for those arriving without cars, will a car be needed? Etc? We are investigating airfares out and thinking this may be a way we can get to the event. JD
Centurion
John, I'll try to learn more about the rooms themselves when I'm at the hotels on Sunday. The car show is in the parking lots of the two hotels, which are next door to each other, and the lots are contiguous, so everything is right together. No car will be needed for fly-in guests, since busses will be available for all the tours -- except for the cruise to the XXX Root Beer Drive-In. For that one, we're asking Buick owners to open up their backseats to our fly-in guests.Regarding transit from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, I'll check on the availability of courtesy vans from the hotels. An alternative (and probably the best option) is Shuttle Express, which does a great job of getting folks to-and-from the airport in this area.http://www.shuttleexpress.com/index.html
Guest imported_Thriller
John, here's the web site for the Bellevue Hilton - I didn't look, but it ought to have information about the room amenities. That being said, if they are full and you have to stay elsewhere, it won't answer your question.
BUICK RACER
Thanks, Brian! I was at the 1991 meet in Sacramento and even though there weren't the cars we get in the Midwest, the cars that were there were awesome! So we expect to see the same in Seattle. Buicktown, with the Flint Vistors and Convention Center will be there promoting the 2008 BCA National next to the Sloan Museum with the BCA Store will be there in force!Look forward to more info on your meet, Thanks again! Centurion
We met yesterday at the host hotels, and I think the layout and facilities for the show are superb. I think you'll be pleased by the compact layout. The swap meet area is actually located directly underneath the show field in a covered, lockable structure. Here are a couple of pieces of information that might be helpful to John and others who will fly in.The hotels have courtesy shuttles, but they do not travel to the airport. Fly-in guests who are not renting cars should make arrangements via Shuttle Express to get to the host hotels. We'll make the point again that it is not necessary to rent a car, unless you wish to do so.The courtesy shuttles are available, however, to shuttle people to-and-from the nearby Bellevue Square shopping center, which is probably the most upscale mall in the Pacific Northwest. On Saturday, July 28, the Bellevue Arts and Crafts show will take place near the shopping center, and, again, this would be an appropriate use for the hotel shuttle. By gathering a group of friends and making prior arrangement at the front desk, the hotel can also shuttle you to some of the nearby restaurants in Bellevue. (The Hilton has its own restaurants.)We toured only one of the hotel rooms, and it's the suite made available to BCA President Paul Meyer. (Paul, you're gonna like it! ) My understanding is that all of the guest rooms have coffee makers, irons, etc.I surveyed our spot for a Friday breakfast for members of our forum here, and we'll announce more details about those plans as the date approaches. Centurion
As of last night, we have received 180 registrations and room bookings exceed 400. Based on past patterns for receiving the registrations, some of my fellow host chapter members are estimating between 300 and 400 cars.As expected, we're seeing a strong turnout from the Pacific Northwest states and western provinces of Canada. As I look over the registration list, I continue to see an excellent response from BCA members in California and Colorado as well. In fact, more than 20% of the registrations to date have come from California.Let's all hope that gasoline prices do not continue to rise durng the summer months this year. High gasoline prices are likely to impact participation at all of our future national meets.
Mark Shaw
The Red Lion Hotel is still taking resevations today...April 30th. You can just walk across the parking lot to the Hilton.
Centurion
Yes, Mark, I learned yesterday that the Red Lion still has a good number of rooms that they are making available to us, but it's important for people to reserve their rooms as soon as they can. Some of the judging classes will actually be displayed in the Red Lion lot, which is right next to the Hilton lot. And I believe that the judges' breakfast will also be held at the Red Lion.
