Emblem Magic makes a two piece replica as well. It looks as if it would be further from original than Jim's was but would be a nice tri-shield with mounting bracket....of course it's EXPENSIVE!! I had no idea Jim had passed He was a great guy. My Electra still has his repro on the front... I know there is a demand for these emblems and I wish someone knew how Jim was making them :-(

Lamar it's just a setting in the new s/w that needs to be adjusted. I'm sure it's something that was just overlooked in the new s/w and not something that was set on purpose...

I sent a mail note to Roberta about the links on the BCA home page. They just need to be updated and they should work again. Peter can we get some different stylesheets added? I like the new forums but as some others have mentioned, the color choice is kinda hard on the eyes. I know that would not be a priority if your working out bugs right now.

to post images on the site you have to have them hosted somewhere on the web and the image tag uses a link. Make sure you send me your name and any other information you want to go on the page with your Electra pictures. btw, it looks like you have a remote mirror on the drivers side...

I don't have a way to send them to you but I can post them here. The emblem is about 5-6 years old now and is holding up well. The mirror is shown (bad picture) from both sides and is a non-remote mirror. There were no remote passenger side mirros until years later. If you have the non-remote drivers mirror then this one is an exact match. If you have the remote mirror option on the drivers side this will just look odd as it is much smaller and sits differently. IMHO if your not doing a concourse restore and have the remote mirror then get the newer side view mirror that is a match except it will have no Buick logo on it. It matches in both shape and size and is correct for later years. Oh and it's ALOT cheaper! The folks that reproduce the emblem are: Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com EmbleMagic / http://www.emblemagic.com/buick_emblems.htm In case you have not seen one, they look bad because Buick made them look bad. I have seen an original and I had no doubt as to why Buick never used them again. Not only did they look cheap, but they would just disintegrate off the front of the Buick. this is why you see alot of used 70's with what looks like a square piece missing the buick logo. It was a plastic Buick trishield encased in a plastic rectangle attached with a metal bracket on the back. So when you look at a reproduction like the one from Jim Schiff, realize it is *very* close to original. I have one of Jim's on my Buick and personally I like the way it looks on the big Electra. :-) I have pictures of Jim's repro, an original still on a car, and an original that disintegrated off a car if your interested. I would just have to find them :-) Another hard to find part is the correct passenger side mirror. If you don't have the dealer installed side view mirror on the passenger side don't do it. It was again only made one year and if you find one on ebay they go for about 500-700 US dollars. Alot of cash for a side view mirror. They were made of pot metal that pits fast and has a Buick tri-shield embeded on the back. Again a one year 1970 thing then they went to a more generic mirror with no tri-shield on it. Let me know if you have any other questions about your 70 electra. What I don't know I have some contacts that probably do know :-)

You will not find a NOS front emblem as there are none (and if there are, nobody has spoke of them for the past five years I have asked!)...there are two places that make reproductions that are not awful, but are not perfect. I have one of them and am very happy with it.

I like the website. Simple, straight forward, easy to navigate and find information. They should fix it so it looks right in browsers other than MS Explorer :-)

Now we just need to name it something intuitive Like "Membership Application/Renewals - Secure Form" <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> It's nice to see some of the things we have asked about for years finally starting to happen.

Our chapter will collect them and take them to swapmeets, etc and hand them out to folks that seem interested in the club or have stories about their old Buicks. You never know who your going to bring into the hobby when they can get "dad's" Buick in the buy/sell for alot less than they think!

sorry, i was in a Lucerne! I rented a LaCrosse in a trip last month. So part of my beef is what is GM doing to change that perception? I think they now have the quality of cars to compete with Lexus or Lincoln, but I do not see them trying to change the perception as they have done for Pontiac or Caddies. Without this change or the commitment to it, I do not see good things happening...

I have two things... 1) WHY IS SATURN GETTING A CONVERTABLE BEFORE BUICK!!!! Saturn Auto 2) I rented a Nicely Equiped Lucerne and was very impressed by it. But, every person that saw it asked the same question "Why did you rent a grandpa car?" and I mean *every* person asked me that!! The sad thing is when they got in they all loved the car, but how do you get them into the car if that is what they think? UGH, GM disappoints me soo much...

newer laptops give you one PS2 port and USB ports. if you got a USB keyboard (less than 50 bucks) you could use the full size keyboard.

Even if your hard drive crashed and will not spin up or reload an operating system, all is not lost...for a price. There are companies that recover data off of disks like this. They charge a fee and recover as much data as possible and send it to you on new media. So if your losing pictures and history that are not replacable (for example digital pictures from a daughters wedding), then you may want to find one of these companies.
