Sticky Sales Form

Done!

I've locked the instruction thread to prevent every newbie who enters trying to sell a car from adding to that thread.

I'd like input on it however.

Should it be there?

Should there be changes to the form?

Better Instructions?

Whatever y'all think, I'd like to know.

Thanks Rawja, I think it was needed. Seems like every week there has been at least one noob popping up here selling their car with little or no info.

The only thing you might add is a suggestion that they "cut and paste" the form to add their info.

You know, you ain't bad for a moderator.

I developed this form some years ago. So many times, people would put their car up for sale with little or no info. I thought I would try to come up with a something that would answer just about any question someone would ask. I worked for many years at car dealerships, so I think I've heard or seen just about everything, well almost. From time to time, I would repost the form just to make it a fresh topic. It never occured to me to ask that it be set up as a "sticky". Now that this has been done, I hope it helps a lot of people sell their cars. What better buyers than those on this forum?

Now that everone is using the form, some needed changes (IMO) came to light.

Mostly just spacing issues to make the form easier to fill out for the seller and read for the potential buyer.

Moved interior color up near the exterior color, cause it took me two reads of lil88's post to figure out the interior color was, plus it helps when building the mental picture of the car to first visualize the colors and then everything else is contextualized (at least for me).

Added question about completeness of service history documentation.

Though about a why are you selling question, but thought better of it.

Opinions?

Any other changes?

Fantastic job!!! Well done by all.

Is there room for centre console arm rest condition?

and

Driver's door panel arm rest condition.

Both are wear items as is the Tape player working?

and antenna working?

Just some random thoughts. EDBSO

Since I developed the form, you have my permission to change anything you see fit. I just want to help sell some cars! Robert's comments about the console cover and door panels are good ones, as is the tape player. Also, if CD equipped, does that work? I think a question about weather stripping on doors, windshield and back glass might also by valid. Perhaps a question about the Owners Handbook and Craft Log (on 90 91) are they complete as to tire gauge and flash light, atlas (model specific)? Why you are selling is a good point too. Your point about service history is well taken. One big point I forgot, Convertible top condition! We all now how much a new top could cost. Anway change away. What I was trying to get across, so many ads had nothing to say that told us anything. "89 Buick Reatta, nice" is not a ad that is going to sell a car. Draw a picture of your car with words, and don't forget clear pictures that fit correctly on the forum. Some pictures take up so much room that you need a 50" plasma just to see it all.

Based upon the answers that have been given by sellers using the form, I changed it around to make the questions clearer as well as incorporating the changes as suggested by EDBSO and Howard.

I still don't know about "why are you selling?" though. Truth is I hate to see anybody leave the Reatta fold. Take LittleWhite88's ad for example. She appears to be dumping the car(for only $1,000.00) because it needs some transmission work. While the car has 160,000 miles it seems to me that if she were to get the transmission done she would have a good amount of trouble-free miles ahead of her, but geez, I'm not comfortable even suggesting such a thing to her, I mean who wants the karmic responsibility for telling her such a thing? Imagine she spends the thousand or so to fix the transmission and then gets hit with some other "major" repair shortly thereafter.

It's easy for me to say "keep the car", but then I'm not the person who would have to live with the consequences.
