these stories are making my hair curl! i cant believe spectators are that stupid and rude as to get in a persons car. we have signs on both of our cars but people cant read i guess. we go to car shows where people are on bikes and skateboards and you pray they dont get near you. my husband at one car show had to forcefully ask someone not to lean on his car and then they look at you like your crazy. what all of our buddies have decided and there are several hundred of us is we all just watch each others cars when we get something to eat or walk around. ive heard a lot of horror stories from our buddies but have never seen someone get into another persons car yet. i think if it happened to me i would want to take a tire iron to their head. we have a 72 olds 442 convertible and a 75 chevy caprice classic convertible.

You think people who had cars themselves in a show would know better but...

This Saturday a lady is standing at the rear cormer of my car. She had a dog on leash that is going under my car. The leash has a metal part on the end where the dog is. I asked her very nicely to keep the dog away from the cars. She insisted that her dog wasn't near the car. She then tells me she and her husband have a car in the show and she knows how to act around cars. I try to explain to her about the metal piece on the ned of a leash that could scratch the car...she then tells me to shut up. Don't know how, but I did restrain myself from telling her what I thought of her heritage. Later on a kid is towing a wagon with a gift basket that they are raffling. I ask him to be careful around the car. He then makes some playful motion and pretend he will run the wagon into the car. He then tells me he's with the lady that I had a spat with.

Of course later that day, a older gentleman rides his bike between my car another car.

This is a very nice car show which is getting it's share of very nice vehicles. I'm going to suggest to them that they need to ban dogs, bikes, wagons etc from the show field. Why car show organizers don't do this, I have no idea.

Unbelievable that people act like this.

A couple close calls at shows this summer including a member of a club that I belong to leaning against the fender of my favorite car....

But I haven't had to resort to violence YET - but still several shows left this season though.

Mark, Sorry I did not see your invitation until now. You posted it the day after we left to go to Idaho to visit family. Bill and I will be sure to come by and visit again with you this year. We were really looking forward to seeing the bus last year but understand about it not being there. But we sure enjoying meeting and visiting with you. Thank you again for the invitation to see the bus and visit.

Hopefully novaman will start a list like he did last year for the forum members to list their flea market sites. I printed the list last year and made a point of looking people up. I think I only missed meeting Critter Painter, he had just left to go to lunch. So many will be scattered this year that were on the White Field.

novaman, I figured you would be willing to do that again this year. It was a great help last year in finding people from here on the forums. Bill and I met some really great folks with that list.

Maybe Wayne or someone will "sticky" it for you to keep it at the top once you put the thread on.

Wayne, For sure we need to wait until closer. I just wanted to see if he would be willing to start the list again this year. It was such a great idea last year. And it would be helpful if it could stay at the top for awhile so that it won't get buried.

She does NOT know how to act around cars. You should have pointed that out emphatically.

Quote:

I try to explain to her about the metal piece on the end of a leash that could scratch the car...she then tells me to shut up.

At that point I would have taken her by the hand and led her and the dog away from my car, with explicit instructions to keep away from it.

Yes, I have done that. It's something you'd rather not do, but if people won't listen, then you treat them like the child they are.

At that point she was away from the car and hopefully I subconciously made her more aware of the dog. The last thing you want to resort to is physical actions. But some spectators are amazing. Last night I was at a cruise in and a guy asked me what my car was worth. I told him that not be rude, that I didn't tell people what my car was worth. He kept pushing me for a number. He then says to me that I am being rude and walks away. But for the most part people are nice and even those that feel a car show is a tactile experience, really don't mean any harm...they just don't know better.
