Jeff Perkins / Mn
Facebook Posting, Here is the seller’s description: “Model 71C Convertible. Barn find being offered for sale due to health issues. Partially restored. The engine was professionally restored by an old Buick mechanic. New starter and clutch. Reasonable offers will be considered“ According to Classic Car Database 238 of the 71-c’s were made. Looks like a very interesting project. Even the parts alone would cost more .To have an idea how complete it is you have to go and see it .I looked at the dashboard and its painted in body color and not wood grain. I even saw another car restored by THE RESTORER from 40 BUICKS not having a wood grain dashboard .I have a 40 super Phaeton without the wood grain and i feel good now .At 13.5 if I was not in Belgium I would jump on a airplane and go to see it .
Hudsy Wudsy
It's my understanding that some, maybe most, open cars had welded in dashboards, rather than bolt in, for the bracing that they provided. These welded in dashes weren't woodgrain, but sprayed body color to facilitate easier assembly.
