DB stop lights to give away?

Recommended Posts

Someone on here has/had a stop light for a 1928 Dodge to give away. A friend of mine wants it. He contacted me and said the guy's name is Ric. Anyone know who that was who was giving it away? Thanks in advance. I was told the person with the light is Ric Flair, but cannot find the name anywhere.

Would this be the guy? I know he's had a lot of lights in the past

Don't see anything about them being given away, just that they are being offered with preference to someone having a Dodge of that vintage.

So did DB only start to use this tail light with the introduction of the type B sedan, or was it perhaps used prior to that, on other series of DB cars?

These Type B Ovals were, to the best of my knowledge, used for only one year in 1924. After that Dodge used the Type B Drum Style version up until 1928, maybe 1930?

The type B drum made for DB had those letters stamped on the top. Same lamp was stamped Ford and one or two others and were made by Hall lamps. Think without looking, Ford offered them starting sometime in 1926 as dealer installed item for the Model T.

The lamp for Ford was similar but not identical. Small variations like the placement of the faceplate screws for example. Idk if this was done by the manufacturer or requested by DB so they would not be completely interchangable given the rift between the DB's and Ford.

Someday when and if I find the B lamp, I will have to do more research on that. I have several of the Ford type along with replacement lenses and new bezel. The only place I know that sells the new bezels is one of the Dodge parts sellers. I do not recall any of the Ford T parts sellers having that part. That the mounting holes in the bezel line up with the holes in the Ford lamp and it fits the light body. Seems to me I have seen the DB body without the Type B on it, so wonder if there were two different lamps made? One just stamped DB and other stamped DB with Type B under it.

Idk if this helps but I own 6 DB Type B lamps. I have never seen or heard of Dodge not stamping DB into these specific lights. They were pretty strict about it it seems as "DB" and the words "Dodge Brothers" were both stamped into the glass as well as the housing as well as the OEM bracket. Here are some examples of mine that may help.

And below are examples of the Ford light I believe your referring to.

I was talking about photos 2 and 3, the round one, not the teacup style at the bottom or the top photo. I didn't say the DB was not stamped in them, just that I thought I had seen ones of that style with just the DB not the Type B lettering under it. If Type B refers to all 3 styles of the taillight, sorry I didn't know that. I thought, maybe wrongly, that it only meant the round style.

The top one looks similar to Victor style and bottom two photos like the Duolamp used on the Ford Model A.

Oh ok. I see. Im not familiar with the Victor style you speak of (I am no expert on this stuff). From what I've learn about these lights is the top photo is referred to as the Type B Oval and was a 1924 single year production. The second style is the Type B Drum and was produced until 1928 (maybe 1930?). Below are pictures of both style with their respective stamping. Sorry for the misunderstanding. It seems Type B and DB were always together but don't quote me on that 😁PXL_20240829_020436247.jpg.18115d56e734089a144b894c00caffb5.jpgPXL_20240407_012005851.jpg.ee369f5e5c1b90eca91664c51088618b.jpgPXL_20240407_012023648.NIGHT.jpg.1ba37a025ce3892f217180d767796b5a.jpg
