58L-Y8
For Sale: 1931 Hudson Essex 2dr Sedan - $16,000 - Aurora, OR 1931 Hudson Essex for sale by owner - Donald, OR - craigslist Seller's Description: Rare 1931 Hudson Essex Super Six two-door coach, completely restored. Runs well. Millions of Ford Model A's were built but very few Essex at the height of the great depression. Only a handful still exist. The previous owner had this car 60 years and restored it to like new condition over many years. The body is made completely of steel, not a wood frame like Ford. I bought this for my brother who now can't drive it due to a stroke, so it is for sale. Comes with photo documentation of the restoration/manuals/receipts. Odometer shows 59,559 miles. Flathead 6 cyl. engine, 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Original 6-volt electrical system. You can't do a frame off restoration on a 93-year-old car for the price I'm asking. The gas cap alone supposedly cost a couple hundred dollars. Located near Donald. Asking $16,000 which is less than I have invested in it. Please call or text. I can help deliver short distances, if needed. Text/calls are best. Located near Woodburn/Aurora. Contact: Tom (503) 7-forty-9-fifteen-8 Chat available through "Reply" button on listing. Copy and paste in your email: c7ad89a89fec3b52a2803c88fc9bc0ce@sale.craigslist.org I have no personal interest or stake in the eventual sale of this 1931 Hudson Essex 2dr Sedan. 7

kbeach
Someone could have changed to overdrive, but from the factory the second shift lever is for free wheeling, not overdrive.
Fossil
I find this paint scheme very attractive. It's something you don't see every day and it looks great on this car. I'm not sure I'd be real comfortable doing 60 or more on wooden spoked wheels that are almost a hundred years old. Maybe I'm too cautious.

They could use a 1940 Hudson R8 overdrive which allows use of a top load shift. In 1929, Hudson equipped the Essex boattail Speedabout with an overdrive where the 2nd gear position is OD 1
