Does anyone know the fitment or origin of these two lights?

I've had some really good scores lately regarding tail lights and these two seem a bit familiar to me, but I don't know their origins. Based off my experience I would say both, or at least the stop slow light, are aftermarket accessory lights. However, the Maxwell light is interesting to me since it says Maxwell branded on the light. Was this maybe a car model or maker at the time or is it simply referring to the maker of the light?

Thank you. Havent found an example of this particular light but have found some beehive style Maxwell examples.

However, I have my suspicions the Stop Slow light may not be original. I feel it may be a modern reproduction. What do you think?

I agree that both are era after-market lamps. There were dozens of companies in the late 1910s and through the 1920s manufacturing and selling after-market combination brake and tail lamps. Many unusual things were offered. And more than a few had models with a place for an insert and offered automobile marques to be lit up like your "Maxwell" lamp.

I don't know, but it might be possible that Chrysler could have offered such a lamp as an option of some sort? I suspect likely not. Walter P was phasing out the failed Maxwell name, replacing it with his own name. The style of that lamp suggests it to be mid 1920s (it is very similar to my 1927 Paige 6-45's factory original tail lamp), which would at closest put it at the very end of Maxwell. An after-market supplier would continue to offer name tags for recently defunct marques.

I cleaned it up a bit. I feel better about this light. Now. It's just abnormally lightweight compared to all the other vintage tail lights I have. I mean this thing is paper thin. And the center section is lightweight as well. Very interesting likePXL_20240720_202951517.jpg.0272c4b341cc71af1fab70aad442a85c.jpg
