Buick35
My son's Ghia I'm working on has no brake lights. My question is the brake light switchs on the m/c only one for now is connected(I read on a forum only one is required) but with the key on its getting power to both sides of the switch.Rodent matter if the brakes are applied or not.The bulbs and fuses are good. The switches are a bear to get to without pulling the gas tank.I was thinking of installing a universal type switch behind the brake pedal. Dose the switch sound like it's bad and has anyone installed an after market switch with any luck? Thanks,Greg.
junkyardjeff
Could be a bad turn signal switch, the power from the brake light switch goes to the turn signal switch before going to the lights. Had that happen to a 65 Galaxie many years ago.
Rusty_OToole
Those pressure switches do go bad. You should be able to get a new one from any auto parts store. Access from under the car. If you can rig up a mechanical switch on the brake pedal it should make a permanent repair.
Frank DuVal
You have power to both terminals with the key on, yet the brake lights do not light, is that a correct statement? I do not have a 69 Ghia wiring diagram. Some European cars have separate brake lights, not part of the turn signal system, not sure what this Ghia has. 🦃 🦃 🐖 🍠🥔🎄 🕎 ❄️
