1931 Willys Overland Knight Barn Find! - $6,900

Recommended Posts

Doesn't seem like this should have Knight in the name...the underside view looks like someone has made some progress.

A must see time capsule ready for the taking. All original, possibly even some of the tires! There is evidence that this car ran recently due to a modern fuel filter, etc. Great body overall, optional factory two-tone paint which appears to be original too! Running boards have some rust yet underside of car is really clean. The car appears to be complete as well. The 255 c.i. straight six was an option on this car and provides 87 horsepower. A very rare car and in really good condition for being original. Does not currently run but engine turns over.

The standard engine will make this a cheaper and easier car to put back on the road.  I went through  a Willys Sleeve Valve repair once and it was not a fun encounter.  They all smoke by today's standards.  ( Sleeve Valve)

By the details, it looks to be a 1931 Willys Six Model 97. the lowest-priced six-cylinder series they offered that year.

Seller's Description:

"The 255 c.i. straight six was an option on this car and provides 87 horsepower."

His description is the larger series Willys-Knight engine, the Model 97, 98B & 98D were powered by a 193 ci L-head six.  There was a Willys-Knight Model 6-87 which might be essentially the same car but fitted with a 177.9 ci Knight six-cylinder, the wheelbase was the same as this 97.
