Twisted Shifter
A serious project, but should be worth saving from the street rod bunch. Selling dealer should be able to negotiate a more reasonable price. This would be a labor of love; doubtful costs could ever be recaptured unless labor factor was ignored. (Maybe not even then.) 24 photos on CL ad. https://austin.craigslist.org/cto/d/plano-1942-lincoln-window-coupe/7598145308.html 1942 LINCOLN ZEPHYR 3 WINDOW COUPE- I FOUND THIS CAR IN A BARN WHERE IT HAD BEEN STORED FOR OVER 40 YEARS, THE LAST OWNER WHO PURCHASED IT IN CALIFORNIA WITH A CALIFORNIA TITLE DATES 1971 REGISTERED TO THE BLACK CALIFORNIA PLATE ON THE CAR. IT SHOWS 18,000 MILES. SOME OF THE ORIGINAL BRISTOL BLUE PAINT IS STILL ON THE CAR. THE INTERIOR WAS BEDFORD BLUE CLOTH BUT CHANGED TO VINYL YEARS AGO. IT HAS ONE REAR JUMP SEAT. THIS IS ONE OF 273 BUILT . THE MOTOR IS A EARLY 50'S LINCOLN V-8 FLATHEAD. NO TRANSMISSION. I DO HAVE A V-12 AND MANUAL TRANS WITH OVERDRIVE THAT GOES WITH IT, THE BODY AND FLOORS ARE RUST FREE. I HAVE TAKEN PHOTOS OF ALL THE PARTS. A FEW OF THESE PARTS MAY NOT BE FOR THIS CAR BUT HERE THEY ARE. THERE ARE SOME DUPLICATE CORRECT PARTS ALSO. THE TRUNK FLOOR AND TRUNK LID ARE ALSO RUST FREE. B Jake Moran
Yeah that is fun to see. 273 originally made? Might be one of 10 or less left as these had little utility.
Fossil
Did they all have the rear wheels set that far forward in the wheel wells?
m-mman
13 minutes ago, Fossil said: Did they all have the rear wheels set that far forward in the wheel wells? The original 42 was a V12 with torque tube. This looks like a 49-51 Lincoln V8 under the hood. Not too far of a stretch to think that maybe they swapped the rear end also?
DrumBob
That's certainly worth restoring, but whoever tackles the job better be well heeled. That's a big job, but well worth it if done right.
alsancle
I have a vague recollection of us discussing this already. Anyways, I expect it to find a home.
