Help identifying this tool.

I found two of these tools in a junk box. I can’t quite figure out the purpose for these tools.

There is a small negative battery terminal attached as well as a circular gripper device.

it seems too cumbersome to be a battery carrier. Any ideas.

Those are top rests for an open car top. You can see two of them hanging off the back of this Dodge Brothers car. They even look the same as these DB items.

Would this part be from the auto manufacturer or was it an aftermarket item?

Factory part. There is a guy looking for some. Can you private message me your contact information, please?

There should be numbers on them such as 821L or 821R, these numbers will help in identifying what car they are for.

They look identical to the ones on my 17 McLaughlin.
