1942 Buick vent window repair

Hi all,   back on the 1942 Buick.  Want to replace the vent window locks.  The repair kit from Bob's looks like it will be very easy to install. But the question is...... how do you remove the original without removing the whole window.  Do you cut the button off......or  ?????.   Thanks   Jim

I don`t think you have to remove the window. Pull the button outward and use a pr of needle nose vice grips to get ahold of the stem, maybe it`ll unscrew or twist off then remove little pointed shaft. I think the replacement slips in place and screws together.

Thanks pont35cpe, I will give it a try as you suggest.  Yes, on the repair kit the button screws into the pointy shaft

Here’s some Buick ventipane (vent window) lock trivia. The convertibles did not use locks on these windows in the 1940 models. May apply to other years as well.

Thanks pont35cpe.  Did just as you suggested  and  the button pulled out with a little bit of work.
