Recommended Posts

Thanks, This is a model 75 Roadster.

What a great following on this forum, within 2 hours we had a call from CA. and not only did we find a complete set of fenders but, also a set of wheels. We gave our customer the info and they closed the deal for them.

Thanks to all that made this happen for our customer.

As Paul Harvey would say, "Now for the rest of the story". I was called by a T.J. Lake stating that he was notified by a friend (that saw my request for fenders) of his deceased father Mr. Charlie Lake whom had passed away and had been in a well known restoration business with a Mr. Bob Davies also deceased. This business was in the Milpitas, Fremont, Hayward, San Francisco areas of CA. T.J. Lake stated he was in CA clearing out his Father's estate and had the fenders we needed and the price was very reasonable as he said they were primered and in great shape. I pasted this on to my customer to deal directly with TJ.

TJ informed my customer that his father had many parts in several storage facilities and he needed them gone as he was closing out everything and returning to Billings Montana (where he lives) in a couple of days. TJ just wanted it all over with and offered 4 pallets of parts and a complete crated engine for just the cost of freight. My customer sent a money transfer to TJ's wife to pick up and she had to sign for it her name is Amber Nicole Lake.

My customer was sent the freight brokers name (J.D. Brokers located in Hayward, CA.) and phone number (which never gets answered) and the pallet shipping bill of lading numbers. My customer has only heard from TJ twice  once to say the freight was picked up and the second time to say he had misplaced his phone was why he was hard to get a hold of but, the freight had been loaded on the truck and headed to San Fancisco. My customer has to this day not seen a single pallet and all calls to TJ goes right to voice mail which is full.

Does anyone know of any of the afore mentioned names or if some one on the forum did let TJ Lake know of my WTB ad. I can be reached at (615)202-3124 or my customer Galen Romaine (615)513-8134.

Anybody can look at your wanted ad and see that you left a phone number.  You Never should have done that as you now have been taken by a scammer. What's also bad is that you must feel like crap because it was you who gave the scammers info to your customer.

with no phone number in a wanted ad, a person then has to be a member here to reply.  Then if it's a brand new member who just joined with no known reputation and no prior posts here, then that's definitely a scammer too.

Thousands of scammers visit every "wanted forum" for every hobby on the internet, and they do it daily if not hourly.

These days (and getting worse), you simply must distrust everyone and assume every reply is a scam........ unless it was a long time member here with many posts, and he is the one who contacts you about parts.  Even then, keep your guard up in case that members AACA ID was hacked.

This problem has become so widespread because the perps never get caught and charged.  They don't get caught because these types of theft are considered "small potatoes" by law enforcement, too many "bigger fish to fry".  It's a sad state of affairs that is only going to fester and get worse.  We all have to be ever vigilant of being conned.
