ball and trunnion u-joint canvas boot help

There are several styles of leather boots and I am not sure if they all lace up the same way.

 

I was going to scan and post the picture from the 1936-42 Plymouth Factory Service Manual but the picture in that book shows a leather boot with metal clips that are folded over to close it up rather than using lacing.

I’ve done them with “European Straight Lacing” (and tucking the knot + ends under the laces) or coiling tightly with bailing/lock wire.
Both have worked just fine.

It’s not like it’s meant to be air tight or hold spaceship in orbit.

Looks pretty good, but don't forget to check it after first few drives and then, periodically.
