36humpback
I'm trying to find a picture or diagram of how to lace up the canvas boot that laces up with a leather strap. for the ball and trunnion u-joint for my 36 Dodge humpback. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Bob
ply33
There are several styles of leather boots and I am not sure if they all lace up the same way. I was going to scan and post the picture from the 1936-42 Plymouth Factory Service Manual but the picture in that book shows a leather boot with metal clips that are folded over to close it up rather than using lacing. 36humpback
Thanks Keiser, I knew you would/should know the answer. That's pretty much what I was thinking. Lace it up with square knot at top and tuck the ends back under the laces.
TTR
I’ve done them with “European Straight Lacing” (and tucking the knot + ends under the laces) or coiling tightly with bailing/lock wire. Both have worked just fine. It’s not like it’s meant to be air tight or hold spaceship in orbit.

Bob 👍 Looks pretty good, but don't forget to check it after first few drives and then, periodically.
