jvelde
The driver side door on my ‘39 coupe drags on the sill plate. I am thinking about using a bushing under the lower hinge to raise it a little. Anyone have another possible fix for this issue? Thank you for any suggestions.
EmTee
Is there any play in the hinge pins (i.e., does the door drop when opened)? How do the door gaps look with the door closed?
jvelde
the door does drop a little when opened, and the vertical gap is wider at the bottom on the latch side. I have adjusted the strike guide, so it does square up better when closed. Have tried adjusting the top hinge but haven't had any luck getting it to improve. Thought about just slipping the pin up and inserting a washer to adjust, but saw that there are bushings available at Cars, as are replacement pins, which sounded better to me. EmTee
I agree, it sounds like the hinge pins/bushings are worn. You should address that problem before attempting any further door hinge or latch adjustments.

etownster
J Velde: I have a slight sag of the driver door in my '39 Buick 40. Could you clue me in as to the coordinates for Cars that you mentioned above? It is not a big deal but I'm forced to slam the door harder than necessary.
