  1. It seems that the key for my 39 Buick special 40 trunk lock can only be removed when the trunk handle is in the closed position and locked such that there is no way to leave the trunk unlocked. The key when rotated to the unlock position can not be removed regardless of the handle position. This key serves for the door locks, trunk and glove box. A second key operates only the ignition. Is this as expected vis a vis the trunk lock or is the key or lock defective? .
  2. J Velde: I have a slight sag of the driver door in my '39 Buick 40. Could you clue me in as to the coordinates for Cars that you mentioned above? It is not a big deal but I'm forced to slam the door harder than necessary. Dan
  3. Fantastic information. Thanks for taking the time to reply. It appears my 8 1/4 blades are about right for the car when parked horizontally. I'm thinking of setting the parked position at 10 and 2 as shown to permit a 1-2"longer blade. As they are, they don't sweep enough of the the driver's glass to be very useful. Very odd in my view that Buick didn't have a better setup. Perhaps it didn't rain back in the late 30's.
  4. Short of finding an original jack, a small hydraulic was my thought also. The manual says to jack under the spring seats. Would an hydraulic jack stay in place? Dan
  5. To clarify I was looking for suggestions for a portable jack in case of a flat.
  6. Recently acquired a 1939 Buick Special. The car has a spare but no jack. I've read the original jack with the two "ears" was not the the safest. Can someone familiar with this model suggest an appropriate jack as well as the best placement spots for both front and rear? Dan
  7. I recently acquired a 39 Special 41. I think the the wiper blades are too short at 8 1/4 inches. There is a lot more windshield such that there is enough room for a 12" blade. Could anyone tell me the OEM length of the wiper arm and blade? Also where should the blades park?
  8. Facebook page has disappeared. Apparently no loinger available.
