Akstraw
The hood latch on my recently-purchased 1948 New Yorker seems to be missing some components, or is incorrectly assembled. I am looking for a photo or ideally a blowup parts diagram of how it should look when correct. Thanks for any help. -Andrew (sorry first photo is upside-down) " Edited April 1, 2022 by Akstraw Added info, correction (see edit history)
Joe Cocuzza
I am not home (work overnight) but I will try to get you pictures from my parts manual Saturday. If you are missing parts I may have them.
Joe Cocuzza
Took a look at my Parts manual and there really isn't a good picture. But I can tell you yours is not set up correctly.

Gunsmoke
Good photos JP/M, obviously the original bracket was flattened at some point and a wire and bolt looped though the bracket. Re-bending bracket should be easy, finding the adjustable right sized bolt with the clamping hole for the wire may not be so easy. Works much like a cable on a bicycle brake cable or gear changer. Akstraw
Ah, yes. I see now how it is supposed to look. Thank you very much!
Akstraw
Thanks for the help. When I straightened the bracket, the ear broke off, so had to weld on a small piece on the end. Otherwise got it back to working the way Chrysler intended. Made a slider bolt from a carriage bolt. I appreciate the help. Now on to the next issue; parking brake cable. (Sorry for upside-down photo once again. I’ll figure that out, too, someday).
Vifa
The hood on my '48 New Yorker has popped some times while driving - I would like to know if anyone else have experienced this? And how to adjust the latch to avoid it? Edited May 10, 2022 by Vifa (see edit history)
