Tire preference/white or black?

My personal preference is for black only. But with a black car, have you considered raised white lettering (provided you want a sporty look)? If you go with white-wall or raised white lettering, keep in mind that you'll want to stock up on SOS pads to clean the white part of the tires when they get dirty (unless your's only come out in sunny weather...ours is a daily driver).

This is just my opinion, I'm sure I will catch some flack for this but here goes. I do not think the white walls look good on our Reattas. I feel that white walls only look good on old classic cars that are restored to "showroom" condition. I mean cars from the 1900's up to the mid 1960's. Black walls have always been my preference.

But in all honesty, you need to choose a tire that you like, not what a couple of people like. If you like the looks of a white wall tire and think it will look great on your car, I say go for it. I posted a couple of pictures of my coupe in the photo gallery with my new wheels bolted on. Some people may not like the wheel I chose, but I liked them.

Who knows, the white wall might look pretty good on a Black Reatta and you just may be a trend setter

Get good blackwalls and a set of portawalls. That way if you do not like, they can be removed.

By the way, it used to be that many tires had a layer of white rubber under the outer black one. Whitewalls just had part of that outer layer removed.

The Reatta only came with black tires. I like WSW but on certain vehicles, since the Reatta was never equipped with them it tends to make the car look "different". It would not be a great sin to put the WSW on the Reatta since they will wear out and can be changed easily.

Do not put raised white letter tires on a Reatta.... that would be like drinking wine with ice cubes.

Of course this is just an opinion but generally whitewalls tend to take away from the look of an alloy wheel. Blackwalls are a nice contrast for the shiny wheel. White lettered tires just don't fit the refined character of the Reatta and the ones I have seen seem to cheapen the look of the car. Of course different strokes and such..

Thanks for the input. My tire shop has a 'virtual' kiosk so you can see how your car looks with different tires and wheels. Somehow I have my doubts that the Reatta is in the data base but I'll check. Consensus seems to be on blackwalls though. Will let you know what I decide and if it's whitewalls I'll post a picture.

OOPS!! I've been guilty of that Barney. But then, I've always been a bit of a rebel.

Black Beauty gets black walls, not 3" gangster, porta wall or raised letters. Sometimes I get these dumb passing thoughts and have to get 'slapped up side o' the head'. Thanks for everyone's input.
