Marshall Van Winkle, New Bern NC.

Steve posted this on the Judging Forum as Marshall was well-known in that community, but I thought it also worth mentioning here because so many people knew him, in addition to the many members who judged with him over the years.

Marshall passed away on the 3rd of this month in New Bern, NC.

Marshall was well known in AACA, HCCA, and in Model T clubs.  He had over 160 Preservation Awards on his 1924 Model T Tudor Sedan, and also had 6 Senior Grand National Awards.  Marshall was chairman for several of the AACA National Meets held in New Bern.  The photo here was taken at the Hershey Judges Breakfast in 2018.  He always enjoyed a hug from Sue.

A link to the obituary is here, with details about his memorial service that will be held Tuesday, February 15.

If you’d like to send a card to the family, you can send it to his daughter, Marsha:

Marshall will be missed by many.

Marshall,  in my experience,  was a very nice man.  He judged my '26 T Multiple times.  He was very fair and very knowledgeable.  A quiet man, I hung on his every word.  When he told me I had a nice car, and a good car, it really meant a lot. He'll be missed.

Marshall, a North Carolinian, but formerly of New Jersey, was a true gentleman, quiet, and well versed in our hobby-

He also had an amazing collection of nautical memorabilia - including some very interesting outboard motors I enjoyed when visiting his home and garage.

He will be missed

I'm very sorry to hear of Marshall's death.  He was definitely a special man.  Mark & I had the pleasure of speaking with him a number of times.  We always enjoyed it and usually came away knowing something new about Model Ts.  As others have already said, Marshall will be missed.  He was walking history and an important contributor to the legacy of the AACA.  It won't be the same without him.  Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
