What is the marker indicator lamp?

Keiser, thank you for helping out with that info and posting picture. you have helped me many times to identify something and i appriciate it. i have a few more unknown parts i picked up that i will post soon for identification hoping again you, or an AACA member can help with.

Most often seen on the street side front and maybe rear fenders. Some places/cities required cars left parked on the street to have the tail light or fender marker lights turned on after dark.

Right.  As cities began passing laws requiring marker lights to help to see parked vehicles, things like these became quite popular.  I don't believe they were ever offered as factory equipment though.
